Fuji X10, so pretty!

Hi All

A new owner of the X10 here - just picked it up last weekend at SITEX.

I have a question regarding the new sensor - short of calling Fujifilm Singapore, how do I know if my camera already comes with the new sensor? Is there an independent means to determine this?

Regards

Alvin

hi alvin,

one way of knowing if your camera comes with the new batch of sensors is by looking at the serial number.
if the serial number of your camera starts with 22M, then it is possible that your camera comes with the new sensor. if it starts with 14M, then i'm afraid it's the old batch.
do check it out and let us know.

warm regards,
inomj

Hi inomj

Many thanks for your pointers. My serial number starts with 22M. I called up Fujifilm Singapore to enquire about this and after asking for my serial number, I was told that my X10 already comes with the new sensor. I asked whether there's any website I can go to to check this (like the ones they have for iPhones and iPads where you key in your serial number and out pops all the specs including the place and week of manufacture) and was told there wasn't. Anyway, it's great to be able to corroborate this with forumers here.

On a rather more sour note, I've just inspected my X10 more closely and found a hairline scratch on the lens. It's not on the outer glass (so I can't have scratched it) but inside - I can see it advancing and retracting as I turn the zoom ring. Looks like I still have to make a trip down to the service centre.

Hi,
Just bought my X10 about a week ago. I discovered that the optical viewfinder is blurred until I zoomed to 112. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.
Was planning to buy the XE1 next year...now abit afraid to venture further.
Thanks once again.

check your dioptre settings. that little knob next to the OVF, beside the flash switch.

X10's OVF is a purely optical - no way it is blur except for the dioptre mentioned.

The XE-1's different - but you should definitely try it first before you buy.

Thanks for the advice.
Apparently 'no way it is blur' is incorrect.
Went to Fujifilm service centre. There is a problem and they will service and get back to me.
kinda disappointed.

hey everyone, a quick question, where can i try out x10? Thanks!

Oh. Interesting, I stand corrected - what was their diagnosis of the problem?

hi, just received a call from the service centre. These guys work very fast after some persuasion, they replaced the ovf.
I'm not sure the exact problem but I was advised not to zoom too fast.

Merry Christmas to all X10 users :)

has anyone gotten their "orby" sensor changed?

Actually I dont really feel the need to change mine , cause it really affect very small percentage of my shots . And after a while I actually forgot about it.
The other thing about not changing it is also partially because on some forum , its said that overall iq does get affected abit (dont know how true).
Anyway even if I want to , I will wait till 11th month of warranty then change . And wollah I have a new sensor .
But thats just me .

Good luck if u intend to change it at the last month, cos it takes up to a month or so to get the replacement parts delivered. At least that's what I experienced.

Got my sensor changed last mth. Actually takes only a week. But after I got it back, my ovf is badly aligned, will gets blur when I zoom in or out. Have not have time to go back since.....
