Fuji X10, so pretty!

Just something to share with you guys.

I personally find X10 to be best in quality with the following settings.
- JPEG 12M, some will stick to 6MP DR400% at ISO100, for me 6MP is abit tight for cropping.
- Provia
- Sharpness Hard
- Color High
- Highlight Mid
- Shadow Mid
- NR Low
- Auto ISO400. Depends on what you shoot, if going to shoot high detailed stuff like feathers, stick to 100, anything above 400 will lose alot of details.
- DR AUTO
- WB Shift Nil
- Exp comp -1/3

The OOC jpeg is usually crisp and good, but usually I will do some cropping, denoise, adjustment of brightness, add framing etc. In terms of colors, there is very minor adjustment required.

There is also a color shift on the red channel if you noticed, some like it but I find it nuisance when the red will turn to pink. This can be easily corrected by Lightroom by the following settings.

RED channel luminance -50
Orange luminance -20
Purple luminance -50
Magenta luminance -50
Yellow saturation +20

Have fun with the X10, I had mine! It has the best jpeg output compared to so many compacts even 500D I ever owned before.

It's a great camera but I realised I'm a raw person and I traded mine for the bokeh and creamier colour depth.

Cheers!

I bought an EP3 and Nex5N... keeping SONY discarding EP3... seeking DP2s, if price NEX7 price fell lower, might switch to NEX7.

I am leaning towards buying an x10 but after reading the white orb problem and the dust in lens should i still get the x10. Tks :)

orbs can be solve once the senor get replace with a new one. As for the dust... zoom lens are likely to get dust, same goes for DSLR lens. I suggest get a filter to protect it. Other tat all, i tink X10 is one of the best compact cam around. Go try it, if u are comfortable with it, get it :)

You have to ask youself a question, are you going to do night photography? Is night photography your kind of shooting style?

I dun find it an issue, just initially upset by Fuji service attitude (if you follow up DPReview forum, read around most photography forums, fuji actually denied the problem and try to belittle it).

Now they have admitted the problem, came out with a solution, it just a matter of time this orb saga will be gone forever.

Tks ndividualistic and rainman for the confidence.
Tried out the x10 today and felt shiok. :)

I'm thinking of selling off my d90 and get this x10.. Should I? I want something portable..

sure abt tat?... its just a compact. no matter how good, you cant compare it to a DSLR, mirrorless or M43. suggest you try it out before u sell off ur D90. can just use X10 as a backup cam.

Is it possible to get the lens hood, filter etc at the shop where im gonna buy the cam if im buying?

Fully agreed x10 is a capable prosumer camera. Love it every bit. Shooting more with this small gem.

haaa.. haaaa.... just bought X10 today after cancel order for OMD. rainman, I like you setting. Thanks for sharing. I read the mannual, could not find what's the max SD capacity it can read. Any one know?

just a quick question. when u listen closely to the X10... when i point the camera up or down...i hear a faint clicking sound. any idea wat this is? i turned off the Dual IS mode, and it still makes the sound. its not the AF sound, thats different. its not a bother at all, but im just curious

where can I buy lcd screen protector that exactly fits to x10 LCD? the one I got was a bit bigger size and still need to cut manually =<

im looking for the same size if anyone of you knows where to get?

Thanks!
