Fuji X10, so pretty!

Just gotten one for a week! Great little "go-everywhere-camera", pity the battery is terrible!
Had a G11 once a few years back, and the battery had a ridiculous longevity. Wonder what's the difference between the batteries or the power consumption.

that's why i got 2 spare battery with me everytime ^^

Downgrading my m4/3 system to an X10. pls let me know if you wanna upgrade ;)

Hi, I like to know your reason to downgrade to X10... why X10 and not other P&S?

Thanks

Hi Dan,

I did not give up m4/3 but I have X10 as my daily camera (and not P&S) ; The reason is ;

1) X10 just look sexy
2) 28-112mm f2 – f2.8, there is no such lens in FF, APS-C, m4/3, compact P&S to give this focal length and aperture
3) Needless to mention, CMOS sensor at DR400% is amazing. At beach, I could have lots of detail on the extreme end, the human face and the detail of cloud
4) Can shot in RAW, good noise control up to ISO1,600
5) Lots of button control
6) Fuji color ! accurate WB
7) Fuji intelligent flash (together with ISO and DR settings) is very very good. Fill in flash is accurate and u never have over exposed situation. That eliminate me to carry additional flash unit. Hard to explain if u have to use it and realize the effect.

If you are keen, you can molest my X10 during JBOG Jun’12 outing next week.

Thanks Mic, I'm considering... probably after the JBOG....
Need to get a new cam for the CB...

hey, x10 users.. how u find the AF speed when focusing distances? when focusing stuff nearby, like when testing in my bedroom, it focuses super fast (for a compact at least) - but when focusing out of my window, focusing something at a greater distance (the view from my window etc) i find it a bit sluggish.. well, still quite fast, and very acceptable..but slower. even when i focus at somethign in the distance (focus to infinity), and then refocus, its a bit slow.. not bad at all but slower than when i focus on nearby subjects...when i say slow, it still takes less than a second to focus..but i feel its slower than when focusing on closer stuff

im being a bit paranoid coz i dropped my camera out of my dry cab n im a bit worried.. everything seems fine but i didnt really test it before the drop, so im wondering if this slightly sluggish AF thing is coz i dropped it, or coz its normal. haha. AF accuracy is fine. maybe this is a dumb question, apologies :P thanks

Agreed, the battery power run out fast.
Since there’s no info display on the viewfinder, it’s not so convenient to use. Another thing is the framing thru’ the viewfinder which is only about 85% thus make composition very challenging.
I guess I need to use it more often to adapt to it.

Well, I've been considering a few p&s cameras actually: Oly ZX-1, Canon S100, Pany LX5 and Fuji X10. Played all these either from friends' copies or in shops, feel I like the X10 the best (looks, feeling in hand, handling and etc). I'm quite sure all these cameras are capable of making great photos when used properly, to me the look/feel/handling are more important 'cause it's gonna be my carry on camera when I'm out w the family.

I still have a dSLR setup if I really need the speed and best IQ, or go out for some photo trips/outings. I just wanna get a decent camera which I LIKE to use to record the memory, that's why I feel m4/3 is a bit overkill and not as convenient as I wanted.

Just came back from a 5-day family trip to Pulau Regang, ended up I used my kids' Fuji F31FD (a nice and reliable little camera btw, got 1 for each of my kids) a lot more than the G3 (together w/ 14/25/45). Looking at the family photos I took in the past year or so, I don't really care much about narrow thin DOF, actually I want to have as much background as possible. And I don't care too much about shooting RAW either, just good enough JPG will do. But I still want my camera look and feel good, that's why I'm replacing my m4/3 system w an X10 :)

Nw shopping in KL. Last came here 10yrs ago! Wow! The place has changed, slightly.

Brot 3 batts along w the x10 for a 3d2n trip. Jus nice. :)

hi guys, where can I buy UV filter for this camera and filter cover? ;)

Finally decided to get a brand new X-10 instead of a used one. Got it this afternoon (after I sold off all my m3/4 gear), played all kinds of settings tonight, I have to say this camera probably got more settings than my Pentax dSLR cameras. Other than lack of DOF control, I think I can live w/ just this camera alone for travel and walkabout w/ the kids.

For UV filters, just look for those 40mm ones.Think artworkfoto and sgcamerastore has them.Lens caps,a 40.5mm one would do:)
