Fuji X10, so pretty!

Just curious, anyone actually shoot in 3:2 format which is DSLR size.. instead of the standard PNS 4:3 in x10?

i am using quality M with 3:2 format. adjusted the settings based on this article also.

Nothing Special: How to Shoot an EXR Camera -- Fuji X10, F70EXR, F80EXR, F200EXR, F300EXR, F550EXR, F505EXR, F500EXR, F600EXR, F605EXR, HS20, X-S1, S200EXR, Z700EXR, Z800EXR, Z900EXR – *updated 5 January 2012*

Interesting the recommendation to use M size jpegs - the explanation makes sense. Will have to try it out.

agree with mogwai, surprise with the M size since it L or larger size is always recommend... bt it do no diff if shoot totally in RAW as you cant adjust the image size and quality.

that's right. for my nikon D700, will definitely take raw. but for X10, i will take jpeg. :)

I saw one picture on the net, someone mounted a Sunpak 40.5mm UV on the X10. Comment said, it fits nicely. I ordered one on ebay, 9.95 Sg$ , free shipping . Will let you guys know if it fits, when it arrives.

I have one. doesnt fit in fully. you'd only get 1/3rd of a turn.

I suspect similar to the Vitacon 40.5mm I had. I tried it before and at first I thought it was screwed in properly. On examining, it really only went in about half a turn. Secure enough but not very inspiring. Contrast to the 40.0mm Marumi, it goes in all the way till its flushed.

Also for that price, I doubt if its multi coated. Same for the 40mm Marumi, the cheaper one is single coated, the Vitacon is single coated. Only the higher priced Marumi (black) is multicoated.

guys, i've been really tempted to buy this camera. looks good. and seems to be able to provide good IQ.

until i stumbled upon this. I can't be sure. but the S100 seems to do better than the X10 base on this (slightly sharper):

There are reviews and reviews ;) .I just bought the X10. I downloaded several samples for various cameras , S100 as well here http://www.canon-europe.com/Images/IMG_0798_tcm13-859048.JPG.
After downloading raw samples , and comparing them ( S100, G12, P7100 and others ) the Canon G1X was slightly better but I decide on the X10. The rest of the bunch could not match the quality of the X10. Only G1X, but it has no macro function ( which I need as well for work).

Depends which bit of the image you are looking at. Move the magnified detail over the whole frame and you will find areas where the X10 is actually sharper. Maybe a focusing issue? And if you do a comparison using the 1600 ISO shots, the X10 kills the S100 and the LX5 stone dead.

Very tempting. Just waiting to see what the firmware upgrade (in Feb.?) brings.

Interesting. I agree the samples from the G1X look better, but it doesn't offer that much of a size advantage over my Pentax K-x, and the OVF is (by all accounts) quite a bit worse than the X-10 (key factor for me). If I didn't already have a fairly compact DSLR the G1X would be more tempting, but I have decided it is probably neither as flexible and pleasant to use as a DSLR, nor compact and light enough to be really handy as a travel cam.

So far the X-10 is winning the battle for my affections ....
