Fuji X10, so pretty!

Don't feel that or the original Fuji are good solutions cos there are holes so the filter can't block dust. I think the best solution is a 40-49 step up ring with a 49mn filter. Ordered my from eBay will report when I get it. But other forums say works well.

do you mean 40.5-49mm step up ring, couldnt find a 40-49mm step up ring?

Oh, i was searching in Amazon. Sorry. Just saw it in ebay. Do update if this step ring work, like to get one too. Thanks :)

no prob. waiting for bro robinchee to report if his 40-49mm fit before ordering mine too =)

I chose 49mm cos that the smallest size u can get a B+W UV MRC Nano filter

oh i thought b+w have 43mm uv filters too? reckon 43mm filters shld be cheaper than 49mm filters so most likely getting the 40-43mm step up ring

Not the nano versions .. Smallest in nano is 49mm

nano is slimmer?

Yes .. 3.4mm vs 5mm

XS-Pro Digital: This mount is especially suited for DSLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. It has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. All XS-Pro Digital mounts are made of brass and are matte black to prevent reflections. Only UV, Clear, and Käsemann Circular Polarizers are offered in this mount, with the latest MRC nano coating.
Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) with Nano Technology
The nano coating is an outer layer of protection that comes standard with all XS-Pro Digital MRC filters. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before. MRC nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC.

If u do a search on their filters for XS-Pro Digital you find that only got 49-86mm filters ..

ah i see. thanks!

hey guys! for those that are curious and wanna try hands on with this camera can do so at takashimaya best denki! tried both the X10 & X100.. initially i thought i could settle for the x10.. but the images from the X100 simply blows the x10 away.. now i'll have to save up a few more hundreds.. :(

but the x10 takes really beautiful marco shots too!

yah sorry i meant i want to prevent scratch and dust too. the lens hood is vented so wont be able to prevent dust. i guess step up ring is the way to go for now.

I see...same reason that i skip the lens hood myself too. I ordered a 40-49mm step up ring too. As robinchee mentioned, 49mm size is easier to get for CPL or ND filter.

I order 40-49mm step up ring, but dnt konw, after the ring, can use back the lens hood also ? the lens cap can use back? anybody use it?

Anyone notice a tiny little black dot in the X10 optical viewfinder? its like in the centre of viewfinder.. small little dot. Am i seeing thing or is dirt or watever it is inside. anyone can enlighten me.

hi,

does anyone know any compatible external viewfinder for the x10?

Just got my 40-49mm step up ring. Yes it works fine and the step up ring can screw in all the way. And my B+W 49mm filter sits perfectly on the step up ring. This also means the thread is for sure not 40.5mm but 40mm. So hopefully one day the 40mm filter will come up. Heard some vendors coming up with 40mm filter this month.

BTW, I got it from eBay and although its advertised for Canon RF, its works perfectly with Fujifilm X10.

Since its small, it comes to your postal mail box direct, no need to have someone receive the parcel. Came within 6 days. Pretty good.

Definitely can't use back the lens cap. Just get those cheapo clip on lens cap. Can get them from most camera stores about $7. Lens hood also won't be able to fit. So the choices are .. you decide to get lens hood but don't protect the lens or protect the lens (via step up ring with filter or direct filter if and when we ever find a 40mm filter). But so far don't know of any solution to have both. Does not bother me as I'm not a fan of the lens hood.

thanks bro robinchee, will be ordering the step up ring from eBay now. How much did you get the b+w filter for by the way?
