End of the day, for some, the aim is just to get a good compact point and shot with the image quality of dslrs without lugging all those gear around.
The x10 would have been perfect if it had a 4/3 sized sensor.

I think it may be possible to have a 4/3 sensor considering that the X100, which is about the same size as the X10, has the APS-C sensor which is even bigger than a 4/3 sensor.

agree. the sensor size has a direct relation with the size of the optics, much even so if (sufficiently) constant aperture is desired. if really need to compromise size, the aperture of the telephoto end would really be large, making the lens severely unusable in subdued lighting conditions.

X100 has a fixed lens a 28-112mm f2-2.8 zoom will be much much bigger.

Better buy NEX 5N, PEN or EP3. Think more worth it. I don't see the words "Made in Japan" worth that much. One year later, price still drop like ****. Like X100, when first came out, so many problem. So what the big deal if it Made in Japan?

It's not so much about "Made in Japan", but more about the image quality. PEN/EP3 still can't produce that kind quality at ISO 3200 like X100. NEX-5n/7 would be a strong competitor to Fujifilm ILC, just that the aesthetics doesn't appeal to me. Handling wise haven't try so can't say yet. I hope the ILC will see a substantial improvement over X100. To win market share, Fujifilm can't depend on aesthetics alone.

Yeap, I withdrew money out this morning (ard $900) and thinking streetprice should be around there.

When I heard it's $999 (same as RRP) with pathetic 16G card and case, I cancelled my pre-order.

Fuji and the shops are really nuts to think that people are so crazy about its retro look to make me fork out RRP of $1000 to buy a "pns quality" camera which is not so compact.

I rather wait for GF3X and GX1 then.
