Does it feels like m3/4? It only have magnification for MF focus assist but there's is a dedicated button for it. Does it not the same with Fuji?

Thanks

As a reference on my way of focusing:
1. Flip to manual focus mode
2. Move the AF box to the desired subject
3. Press the thumb dial for 3x magnification
4. If that is not enough, flip the thumb dial again for 10x magnification. By then you will be pretty dizzy due to extreme magnification + lack of image stabilizer.
5. You have to keep jumping from magnified mode to normal mode because the magnified mode occupies the entire viewfinder... Hard to compose without looking at the whole screen.

thanks for the feedback... is this procedure for AF lens that you want to MF? how about straight you have adapted MF len mounted? do you still need to perform Step 1?

coz in m4/3 it's like

1. Set your Focus box to the desired subject
2. press magnify button
3. Press again to increase magnification
4. If you want to re-fram need to press the magnify button to return to normal view

for NEX
1. Point to subject and adjust focus and wait for the Peaking to kicks in or to the desired focus point.
2. if you want more precise focus press magnify once for 5x another for 11x
3. to reframe half press the shutter and it will go back to normal view

NEX less steps m4/3 a bit more so I think Fuji should be the same number of steps as m4/3....

some camera's when you are in magnified view, the magnified view only occupies the center of the frame and you can still see the whole composition (well with center part obstructed).

Fuji's method is different.... the magnified view occupies the entire screen so most of the time I have to jump in and out from magnified view just to grasp what I am composing, whether there is someone stepping into the frame when I was in magnified view, whether I have moved the composition during magnified view etc.

Yes flipping the switch to manual mode is required to unlock the "press thumb dial to magnify view" function. If you leave the switch to AF mode you can't do magnified view.

I use magnified mode in NEX 7 previously n dun think it makes any diff for me. Haha.

yep I all three cams i think uses the same magnify methodology that it occupies the entire screen of the magnified area... I have used NEX and m4/3 except X-E1 (soon, soon) :P

some m4/3 bodies have built-in image stabilizer... it really helps when it comes to composing with adapted lens.

agree oly m4/3 has IBIS so it helps a bit specially using a short focal lengths but with long one ibis cant handle specially if you have hands like me very shaky lolz. thats my problem with NEX now since it doesnt have ibis i need to shoot at higher ISO to compensate the shutter speed.

So far I am ok with NEX7 with 135mm MF lens still manages to shoot with the help of both peaking or Magnify :-) I guess X-E1 should be the same experience for me as m4/3 in terms of maginify or Focus Assist and same experience as NEX7 in terms of no IBIS :-)

To me what I have been always wanted to have is good ISO control and sharpness I think both of these are in Fuji X series. Actually I am ok with NEX7 noise control I have recently shoot ISO3200 and I still ok with the noise even tried 6400 still can on small print or small display (600x800)

Then you need to assess what do u really need and if changing to X bodies is a logical move? Personally, I think the X-E1 gives me not only super sharp image with the kit 35mm lens, but also awesome high ISO capabilities. Comparatively to the M9 with Lux 35 FLE in some ways but wins on ISO. Cheers.

NEX 7 to me is a good start to the Mirrorless and the focus peaking is really awesome to play wif adapted lenses. But ultimately, if you wanna keep the Leica lenses, I think it's good to go straight to Digital M bodies or even Film M bodies if you prefer films...

To me bro just two thing matters most ISO and Sharpness with Fuji no AA filter surely will be sharper others features are just plus for me. Hard for me to say it but I think I will be letting go of my m4/3 as you guys knows I dont usually go for more native lens if I do I could have more m4/3 lenes but I only have two (kit lens and Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4) that's why I am keen to move to Fuji as it has the fujinon 35mm f1.4 :-) whilst Nex dont have the same focal lenght on its native e-mount other than CZ 24mm... to me I like the equivalent 50mm (on FF) primes :-). Worst case I might say goodbye to NEX7 also hehehe

My Dec wish list are
A99 and X-E1 :-). if that happens I will let go of my other bodies lolz :-)

PS. Bro I dont want to venture to Leica bodies specially M mount cant afford them (seriously).... thats why I didnt look at X-Pro1 before even though the reviews are very good :)

Yeah... d X-E1 is as good as the XP1, wif smaller size and being lighter. uses the same sensor, perfectly matched wif the fujinon 35.1.4 with all the sharpness, IQ and Bokeh u need. High ISO shots are simply amazing, so little noise even at ISO 6400... Cheers... Go google or youtube to check on the high ISO shots..

let me donut 1 iso6400 shot:

IIRC i shot this a bit underexposed as it was actually almost pitch black except for some weak street lights and pushed it in PP by 2 stops in-camera RAW processing.
All other settings no change.
XP1 but should be same in xe1.
This was on xf35 on FW1.1 so the focusing was a bit off.

Haha. U expected d AF to be faster than NEX 7. Nah. But d high iso n sharpness on d kit 35mm will blow yr mind off. Haha
