Ahh.. i experienced that too. A very warm and orange effect. Try using Custom WB and use a white card. Better after that.

thanks azone..that's so ma fan. :( I managed to salvage the pics by tweaking the levels in photoshop. But if it's a bulk of photos that is even more ma fan. :(

I was thinking, if I set custom white balance for using external flash, can I use that white balance for all future events with external flash? Or does the colour cast vary depending on the ambient lighting? I think it's quite troublesome to custom WB everytime leh.

Hmm.. i've not really tried under different ambient conditions. But good thing is it has 2 custom WB . I set one using a very white card and the other slightly greyish. Next time when you need to take events again, try both WB on the spot and see which is better. Should works i guess.

If you set your shutter speed fast enough, then very little ambient light will come into play in the final picture. How fast the shutter speed needs to be would depend on how bright the surrounding is. 1/1000 is quite safe for most cases. Most of the light will then come from the flash, in that case, setting the custom white balance once would be enough.

Wait, the S602 can use a flash sync speed of 1/1000s? That sounds very useful indeed, but will this work with most flashguns?

You can even use flash sync speed up to 1/10,000 if you want. Works with the Vivitar 285. Can't confirm for other flashguns thou.

generally, setting once is alright. but if the amibien conditions are very different (e.g. very red/orange) you could use the 2nd custom white balance :)

any problems with getting the exposure right?

I was using F11 to test with various shutter speed range. Realised that exposure is the same for any shutter speed slower or equals to 1/1000. Exposure gets darker as the speed increases to 1/2000, 1/5000, 1/10000. Maybe its due to the small aperture i used. Should try again with a larger aperture.

I was testing the above on macros. Not sure if taking human portraits will yield the same results.

that explains. Fujifilm specified 1/1000s becos by then the flash would have fully fired. If you set anything faster, the shutter might have closed before the flash empties it's total output for the lighting condition (hence darker).

Hmm... which other camera can double up as a digital video camera, has at least 6X zoom, and is able to capture a decent 6MP image when I need it?

got to admit, its a great camera for its class, and the size looks good on big hands!

My friends commented my G2 is a toy on my hand (one):dunno:
