S602Z - $1260
Wide-ange converter - $200 (comes with 55mm adaptor)
UV filter - $8
Lens cap - $4 (but no place for string :( )
Case - free
Minitripod - free
LCD protector - free

Couldn't bargain down ;p it's a bit more than AP but AP has no stock.

it's clear sheets of plastic and just like those LCD protectors for PDAs. you just cut out the appropriate size and paste on the camera. they help prevent smudges/scratches to the lcd screen.

I got the lens cap for the 55mm UV filter. The S602Z will be attached with the adaptor and filter all the time (to protect the lens).

hmm... I have got the adapter and UV filter maybe should get the lens cap too.

Oh what bag/case are you using or planning to get to fit the DC with adapter and fiilter?

get a lens cap that come with a holder for the "string" to tie to the camera ;p I forgot about this little detail.

already have an existing camera bag. should be able to fit the camera :)

Was quoted 1250 @ AP today....
D7i @ 1500

BTW what are the accessories that should come with the set?
Also, how to we hceck for dead pixels in for the LCD/EVF?

Thanks for the info, mpenza! Looking forward to see your sample pics! Preferably some long exposure shots. :)

Wow! Impressive batt life with alkaline batts. Are those you used normal energizer types?

Hmm.. funny, called AP in the afternoon, they quoted 1250. So fast no stock? ;(

$1250? someone got it for $1200 at AP leh. does $1250 comes with any free gifts?

To check for dead pixels in the LCD/EVF

1. cover the lens against something black and take a pic.

2. switch to play mode and you should see only a black LCD screen.

3. look around the LCD for any (tiny) bright dots. Any bright dots are dead pixels (and argue with the salesman if he insists that it's normal ;p )

4. toggle to EVF and do the same.

accessories are the standard items:
16MB Smartmedia, 4 panasonic batteries, USB cable, video cable, lens cap, lens cap holder, neck strap, manuals, CDs.

The batteries are bundled with the camera. They're called "Panasonic Alkaline for DIgital". I do find these last longer than the normal energizer types.

Got stock liao? Try and see if you can bargain lower :)

I've tried the wide-angle converter. It's pretty good :) But not as wide as the Casio one on QV2900UX. Too bad the Casio one can't be used without vignetting.

btw, I'm still waiting to get a step-down ring but the C-210 1.9x teleconverter seems to work alright at full zoom with quite little vignetting.

one more thing I learnt:

Normal Sandisk CD cards might not be able to capture video!

so try to get the faster ones. if you're getting a CF card from the shop, test the card in video mode and see how long a clip it can take. my supposedly 20x RiData can only take up to 65s of VGA 30fps video. It fared slightly better than the 12x Lexar card (63s) tested in imaging review:

Sure sure! Thanks in advance! :)

One more question. When you have the lens adapter on, you need to set 'adapter' in the cam menu, so the cam will disable the IR focusing. Have you tried if there is any focusing speed difference with and w/o the adapter?

buy lah!

A newbie question, when using a 55mm->52mm step down adapter ring, does the image get cropped due to the smaller len size?

What's the rational for using the step down ring with a 52mm filter instead of a 55mm filter?

Or is there no 55mm filter in the market?;p
