FUJI Large Sensor Compact

I was actually ready to buy either the Samsung EX1 or Panasonic LX5.
Now decided to wait for this X100instead because it look so appealling:)

As a X1 ex-owner, I must say that the ergonomics of the X1 cannot be faulted. The controls are well laid out and a joy to use. Leica does not need to mimic a M series camera, the X1 has its own character. It's major flaws are slow operational speed and hesitant AF.

I was closed to getting a X1 but the sluggish AF got me thinking otherwise. MF is a different issue all together, I could MF with my film cameras but with the X100, I'm praying hard the AF will be at least fast enough for me, not sports per se but to shoot kids fooling around etc... if so, this will certainly become my de facto camera! :D

I am so gonna get my hands on one X100.
Interesting though that it should be called X100 vs Leica's X1.
Is it gonna be 100 times funner? ;p

Hi, is fujinon lens good? Cos from my impression is that fuji don't really make good lenses.

they do make cine lenses/mf lens, not as much for 35mm.
those broadcasting and video.. alot of the lenses are fujinon.
Should be pretty respectable and if they really put all their effort into it (which I think they are with the X100) I think it shd be pretty good.

Haha. The reason I'm not confident with fuji lenses are actually the amount of CA I have seen in their compacts. But I hope that this X100 is at least as sharp as my lx3..

ya lens for compact usually they don't put their best... unless it's really premium compact and prime lens.
this 35 f/2 u can see from the design use exotic elements like aspherical and all that. even the mtf looks quite respectable @ f/2
but of course still need to see final production model :D

With a RRP of Euro $1000 for the X100, it seems a little high.

Don't worry, if the price is in Euro, it's for Euro market, in other parts of the world the price is usually cheaper.

From the pics in photokina, it doesn't seem to have filter thread rite?
