HAHA :D
i guess it's time to trade my F11 for F100 in this coming IT Show 08

Hm... I think its more a update tp F40.. there is no A, P and S in F100fd.

Hmm... you're right, there is no A & S mode. There is P mode though, which Fuji calls it "M" mode ("Programmed AE" in the spec). Never have thought that it would be left out since F50fd has it. Another step backward. I guess there won't be any successor to the great F30/31 after all. :(

Humm, no A & S modes...Think I will stick to my trusty F30 for the time being. Still loving it very much. My Km5D dslr as my main arms and the F30 as my side arms. siao. :bsmilie:

Heh... I'm holding out with my F11 as well. I think the best F series model so far was the F30 (it stayed at 6MP and the IQ was very good, the later models just increased the megapixel count while compromising the IQ, especially at higher ISOs). This new F100fd looks promising as it goes wider - need to wait and see the IQ.

But think I might wait until somebody releases a compact camera with a DX sized sensor - maybe be next year.

Isn't Sigma DP1 the camera you are looking for?

i had been aiming the f40fd camera and wanted to buy it.. now this f100 is coming out.. is it better if i wait to see how is f100fd or buy the f40 ?

Doesn't seem to mention having A & S modes, but the fujifilm website says it does have "Manual controls for advanced photography needs". Also in the specs there is a "M (Manual)" scene mode, which the F40fd does not have.

Yeah, waiting to see the output of this - but after Sigma announced in Nov 07 that they had to redesign the image processing pipeline, might have to wait longer.

Another feature in the F100fd I'd be interested in checking out is the supposed "Wider dynamic range"

example given by fujifilm

i can't believe it doesn't have A and S mode?!

wait come out their idea of manual is a half assed manual like the f50fd...then well done liao.

I still stick with my F31fd, though sometime the error message drivers me crazy, I think it is better for me that I keep it while they further improve on this new model

Reading from the Specification table in DPreview, wonder if the "M" mode refers to the full manual mode as in DSLR, ie, adjustment of shutter & aperture independently? Otherwise, without the Aperture priority & Shutter priority is really the biggest disappointment!

However, the smallest aperture it can go to is f/14.4, really impressive. F30 can only go to f/8. But F30's widest aperture if f/2.8, & this F100fd is f/3.3, slightly loose out.

Cheers!

i like the wide dynamic range, but duno can adjust the intensity or not.
I probably give it a miss since no A, S.
Still keep to my F31fd first

I dunno abt u fellows, but my KM Z3 has been damaged since forever; I have been waiting silently for a new cam worth the "value" for me to buy, for a while I was abt to go for Pana FZ18, but now that this F100 has emerged, I very much shld be going for it instead...unless it costs >$650, whihc then again will make me consider the FZ18.

The key point I like is the manual features in a COMPACT camera(though I profess I dunno how "manual" it can go...as long as can allow me to adjust shutter speed & exposure, & aperture size can liaoz...)

28mm.....hmm.....tempted! shall wait for the reviews.

Japan online retailer selling f100 for about SGD500.00. so i expect when it arrive SG it will be over SGD650.00.

IT Show 08 is just around the corner :D
