Fuji 35mm or Touit 32mm

Was told at SLRR there is a twin offer now. Zeiss touit 12 + 32 $17xx. 12mm alone $16xx. so essentially they are forcing you to take the 32mm for i think $99. B&H USD$999.

Interesting.... this offer seems to be priced very closely to the price of getting both the Fuji 14mm and 35mm from the usual stores (actual price, not RRP), which is around $17XX-$18XX.

These 2 Fuji lenses are the top prime lenses in the Fuji range (along with the 23mm and 56mm) and are superb in sharpness, colour, etc. It will be interesting to see how many will go for this Zeiss promotion (slightly wider 12mm vs 14mm, 32mm vs 35mm) with the similar pricing now....

the design of the zeiss lens is boring. i will still go for the fuji given a choice

XF35/1.4 without a doubt for me.

The rendering of this lens still amazes me. The 32mm Zeiss isn't a slouch but to me it loses in character in comparison. I like the way it manages a pop while having the sharp edges fall off smoothly into the bokeh areas.

I've shot almost every XF lens and yes , only the XF35 is a definite keeper to me.

I only had the 32mm Zeiss, never tried the Fuji 35mm. During my research on the Touit 32mm vs Fuji 35mm, there are many (and I mean MANY) people swear by the Fuji 35mm.

I think it's downright depends 1 thing, you want a "characteristic" lens? or you want a "Zeiss" lens?

Following is the Zeiss pop I managed to get before I sold of mine.

No sharpening whatsoever, just minor cropping :)

Why I sold it? I didn't like the bokeh and focal length..

Same thoughts. Started my first Fuji X camera (X-E1) because of this XF35mm lens. If I can only keep 1 lens, this will be it. Not the XF23mm, and not the XF14mm.

It is a magical lens to me.

I love the Zeiss. I am using the Zeiss.. I bought back the Fuji. I love the look. Can't go wrong with either...

Just tried the 32mm Touit and 35mm Fuji. The Touit does seem to have better construction and the focusing mechanism seems better overall. Maybe the 35mm set at the showroom was a bit old and needs servicing?

The design of the Touit 32mm is more modern and gives an impression of better construction. Definitely a better buy than the 35mm display set at the showroom.

Jokes aside, both are good lenses. Grab a 32mm Touit if it is on promotion. Zeiss would not have made a lousy lens to compete with the highly competent XF35. Just like the 12mm vs the highly competent XF14mm.

More choices for the customers will always be a good thing.

Just a question to stir things up a bit ;)

Are the Zeiss Touits produced by Zeiss or by a 3rd party lens maker ?

Anyway , yeap - both the 32 and 35 are good lenses end of the day , U won't go wrong with either one.

Both are great. Have tried both. There are pros and cons as mentioned above.

IIRC the Touit lens are made by Cosina in Japan for Zeiss.
