Actually next week at SEED will be best. But if you can't make it then weekdays in the Raffles Place area in the afternoon will be best. But please SMS me a day ahead to check if I'm around first before coming.

Hey Ansel

Afternoon on a weekday next week at Raffles Place is fine. I'll sms you the day before to check first.

Thanks again. Sorry for any inconvenience I've caused.

wood ...

Yepz, i am also ok with next week, week day, afternoon at Raffles Place.

Wood, can we meet Ansel at next Thursday, 1pm at Raffles Place MRT? Its the soonest possible tme for me. What about you?

Sorry for all inconvenience.

Regards

wow, this is indeed an interesting gadget for nikonians...

If you have a telescope and T-adaptor for Nikon SLR, then you might also be able to use the lens scope convertor as a 10-mm eyepiece.

It will be interesting for terestial viewing as the roof prism is built in for upright and LR-correct images.

..ah....same thoughts.....

On my Meade ETX90, which has a focal length of 1250mm, using th lens scope converter as the eyepece will give 125X magnification. Now if I can find a way to attach my cp995 to the lens scope converter.......;p

Hehe...
But i dont a own a telescope currently..still trying to save hard. :p

Cp995..worse come to worse, use a scotchtape? Haha..just kidding.

Being new to a world of telescope ranges, with the scope convertor and my 70-300 lens, max mag will be 30x. Exactly what is the focal length of it in photographic terms? I believe the focal length and 'zoom' is the same rite?

Can't wait to get my scope convertor!
Regards!

Roy, I've never ventured into astrophotography, for obvious reason that Singapore's sky is not really suitable for star gazing. I believe up north it is quite different. The sky can be really clear and if you live in the suburbs of Seattle, you don't have a lot of street lights to affect your view of the heavens. Now how much can you see with a 125x telescope? Do you have any pictures taken with your Nikon attached to it? A bit OT here, but just curious.

You mean you have not seen my moon shots???!!!!

Over here, I only go out my front door to take moon pictures. Attempted Saturn once, but the results are bad because I do not have enough magnification as well as enough skill to get a good focus.

There are street lights, but I guess the pollution is much less than big city lights.

Here are my moon shot posts:

Taken with Nikon CP995 attached to Meade ETX90RA through a William Optics DCL-28 eyepiece. More details in the threads.

From my calculations, to fill a 35mm film frame with the moon, you will need a lens in the range of 3500mm focal length.

The effective focal length is calculated by multiplying the focal length of the camera lens by the magnification of the telescope.

For example, if you are somehow able to scotch tape the lens scope converter to your CP995 and then attach the 70-300mm lens, it will be like having a 30X tele-converter.

Disregarding practicality issues, the CP995 maximum zoom is 152mm (again, this is equivalent focal length in 35mm film format), so the effective focal length of the combo will be 152 X 30 = 3060mm.

Icic...

Just curious, what are guys using for the scope other than astro?
Sungei Buloh? haha..

Ah Roy don't cry! Now I remember seeing those pics, just couldn't remember it was you who took them. Knew they were not taken from Singapore. Anyway, we've gone very seriously OT by discussing astrophotography here.
