I personally do mind when CS is down, but I choose to move on to other things I can do instead of complaining and pointing fingers here and there ... After all, there is life outside of CS :bsmilie:
I still stick to my advice: Try to find out what it takes to maintain a server for a forum of this scale, taking into consideration the fact that u already have a full-time job, then make your comments. Better still, PM Jason, as he has invited, and find out what the admin goes thru ...
I don't think thanking the admin and showing appreciation is carrying their balls ... I don't think many of us will have the expertise to help the admin solve the server problem, the least we can do is cut them some slack and show them the appreciation

Why aren't my comments valid just because i dun exactly know what it's like to maintain a server? are u saying the becos my knowledge is limited or lacking that i don't have a right to voice? in ur words, u say i am "complaining"...
the admin go thru wat they do for various reasons. if it's not money, it's satisfaction, it's giving to the community, it's ego, it's WHATEVER that most of us won't know or care to know. that they are doing the best they can, most of us agree, that the server is SUBSTANDARD (at least compared to not so long ago) not everyone is "seeing" it like it is.
a person like myself, or jdredd that states the "bad news" might not help, but it's just as bad as a person going WELL DONE SOLDIERS (thumbs up everywhere) to the admin, paying lip service. sure it sounds nicer, but in no way have i been rude to the admins. i've constantly, in this thread and others, mentioned that they do deserve recognition and gratitude.
i am sounding like a harp becos every other person replies me and i end up repeating myself. i voice the concerns of many that this site is down more often that it should be. and i can say i've been much more polite than many. of course u can say it's a free place, they have no right to comment on whatever they are getting free, but CS is a place where we have grown to love (or hate) because of the members, NOT just because of the admins alone. the members' voice is VERY impt, and no i still dunno anything about running a forum, but i dun think i am wrong in this regard.
there's no finger pointing dude.. where in this thread have i mentioned that i BLAMED admins for "my misfortune"?
i believe i have been a pretty positive member in this forum, contributing enuff to earn some sort of respect. in return, i draw on the resources that this vast forum of members provide, be it in terms of good deals, or getting to know pple, as friends, as business partners or whatever. this is why it is a big deal to me if the server is constantly down. many impt personal and/or business deals go thru here, or come from here, or leave from here. u might be a casual person that comes in once every two days, but i'm different to u. i take much more from the forum, and i give much more. hence if u wonder why there seems to be "no life outside of CS" for me, then take it from me that CS is my "microsoft outlook cum google cum BHphoto cum yellow pages" tool, for lack of a better example.
so yes it SH!TS me when this place is down, that doesn't mean i hate the admins. nor am i gonna be sweet and say, aiyah it's ok lar, admins doing such a good job hooray and let's wait for it to come up again then we can give lollipops to all.....
i dun think i'm gonna talk more on this topic... really this puts me in bad light, i never ever wanna be a broken harp.
