Folder Capacity for 10D

would like to know how u guys copied ur pictures to your harddrive. i'm using 300d.

for me, i'll load CF into my card reader and use the windows explorer to copy the files into my hard drive before starting to filter out the unwanted photos. Normally i'll take around 1000+ shots and the camera will create around 10 folders each with 100 photos in it.

would like to know if there are any DOS command or windows shortcut that can copy all the files from all the folders in the DCIM folder into a single folder on the harddisk. becoz it's very troublesome to go into each and every directory, select all and then copy to a single folder to the harddisk. i prefer to load all pictures in a single folder rather than few folders with 100 photos each.

get a 30D :sweatsm: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Try the 1D or 1D Mk II. 9999 images per folder if I remember correctly. But you'd have to MANUALLY create a new folder, select it, before you can carry on shooting. The 1D Mk II N resolves that problem.

So any way to increase the numbers? Cos i'm still very new to DSLRs so not very sure of how to operate.

actually why are you concerned about the multiple folders?

NO, you have to accept it, unless you expert in low level programing

i use image capture which comes with mac os x. once i insert the cf or sd card, it will automatically copy all the pics into a specified folder on my mac. :p

I find the folder and numbering system to be okay....infact quite like the way they group the pics in the group of 100 or less. :)

I like how the 10D looks when the grip is attached. The way 20D looks with the grip attached is terrible. The grip and the body look seperated!

If you use Canon's (or others available, if I'm not wrong) image management software, the image downloading module will automatically copy all the image files to a specified folder onto your hard disk. This works even if you use a card reader... no need to tether your camera to the com.

Nobody asked you to manually copy all the files to yr com... which might be troublesome if you have multiple folders. I can't be bothered about how many folders my dSLR creates... I'm using zoom browser to download the files so I never need to bother with folders on the CF card.

There's always a solution to problems. You can choose the brute force way, which is to find some way to force the camera to write everything in one folder, or use a software work around which automates the task. Other den that I don't see any reason why you should bother how many folders your camera creates, unless you're doing the downloading manually.

(Or r u one of those fussy pot I want it my way or the highway people who like to nit pick on everything thing imaginable, in which case :sticktong )

Cos it can be quite tedious for me to copy and paste all the pics into a single folder i created in my com.

I always copy and paste all my pics i've taken for that day into a single folder in my com, that's how i like to organise my pics.

Sure or not? Unless you can shoot tens of thousands of photos in one single shoot, then you wouldn't have such a problem. But if that happens, your shutter may just go anytime soon, as well as that you surely need a lot of storage in the long term. Either way, it's not a good thing.

That I don't know. I know that is the case for my 1D. Why don't you buy the 30D and try it out, and let me know instead? Because my other camera is a 10D, which is something you are not satisfied about either, so I'm afraid I do not have any answers to you here.

Usually i would take a few hundred in a day for leisure at most unless got events.

Buy 30D?? Nah i'll stick with my just-bought 10D.

Correct. U dun get what i meant.

The first folder of cos will be copied and pasted, but what abt subsequent folders? I can't have folders in folders lor...would be very messy and disorganised.
