Focusingscreen.com Canon EE-S Focusing screen

Hmmm.... Why I wouldn't recommend the AF bracket thingy? Coz it serves no purpose.. LoL!

Might as well have the option of the 1/3 grid as a guide.. ;)

K30 screen is said to be the same as K5's. So they should be the same. :)

Don't use split screen one since the Ee-s one is available as I "believe" it will affect metering, especially spot metering.

Anyways, why bother with split screen when the Ee-s screen is accurate even at F/1.2? I've tried and it's spot on! WYSIWYG... ;)

Well, no harm trying it. Maybe you'd love the results :)

To me myself, I'm way over MF stuff already. All my lenses are AF ones now :) Too lazy to do MF, the only time I use MF is when I'm taking macros. But split screen isn't very helpful for macros anyway.

I just want to confirm focus with my eyes sometimes, given the K5's super large AF points thus the propensity to focus on the most "contrasty" but not necessarily right thing. And I do think its very useful in certain situations, where the AF is always fooled. Taking pictures through a fence? Or taking some cats hiding behind bushes...

At nearly 100 usd, its not cheap though.

use live view to focus? more accurate in my view

LV with LCD loupe, 1 shot 1 kill. :D
But dorky and not as suited for moving subjects.

I love it though, when looking dorky is OK (eg. Macro, long range, still life) :)

Try it out and let's us know. :)
Maybe I might even get one if your review is good.

k3, with split screen in the middle confirmed screws up the spot metering, for me.

Well, you don't need a split screen to focus manually w great success under these conditions. The stock screen is just fine for manual focus most time. I've gone through all those, played pretty much every Pentax lenses, manual or auto, w different kind of split focusing screens. I know what I'm saying :).

Anyway, as I said above, no harm trying, you might like it :).

Hi guys,

Would like to confirm if the EE-S focusing screen is this exact one? It's a bit confusing as I couldn't find much info about it other than its used in Canon cameras.

Yes! But I advocate the choice for the Rule of Third grids rather than AF grid. ;)

Hi SyncGuy,

Thanks for the information! Why not get the best of the both worlds by having both AF and Rule of Thirds grid?

Granted it might be a bit messy but it will help in various situation I feel...

Hi, you're welcome!

The marking is pretty "light"... I believe you'd need to fork out extra fees to have both markings. But I'd say you don't need it coz it's just a bracket. The AF red marker will still light up so it don't matter whether the bracket is there or not. ;)
