hahaha did a quick search... Ep-1 takes 6xC size Alkaline batteries... I think due to the improvement of technology, which gave us AA rechargable NiMH with capacity higher than even D size Alkaline batteries, Minolta came out with the reduced size and weight, yet higher capacity EP-2.

i'll be damn cos i just bought 4 packs = 16 piece of 2500 lor... cos i bought 2 packs together with the 7D/VC-7D den went home see... damn 6 batts... so it would render 2 useless... inconsistent... den went in thought of buying 1 pack but bought 2 instead... so 16 = 6 for vc-7d, 6 for backup, 4 for flash... song... i still have 2100x4, 2000x8... 1600x4 is for my wireless mouse... enough to last liao...

hmmm so how's the lifespan fo 2500? thought of buying, buy my 2300 don't last me long. think i buy another 2X np-400.

i think the 2x NP-400 more worth it, but i haven depleted both of either batteries yet... strange...

btw if you use a 5600, do you still use a omnibounce? i find that putting on a omnibounce makes the picture become darker even with TTL... the flash output is incorrect.

if i use bounce, i would +EV 1 stop & Flash as well. that's what i use for my A1. haven't got chance to test on my 7D yet.

i guess EP-2 is the latest update of the EP-1. As for the 5600, I've not used the omnibounce because I don't find it useful for me.

For my use (the extensive use of bounce was only during my friend's wedding), I find the bounce to be pretty accurate unless a very reflective or a very dark object fills a large portion of the frame...

Those Sanyo 3000 mah NiMh batts came out over a year ago for RC cars, saw only one shop in KLCC selling them then. Dunno if its still available :dunno: Don't think it's AA size, voltage might be different too.

By the way, where is the EP-2 placed (Clip to flash or in pocket...)?

Put in pocket/pouch/clip to belt. A 'telephone wire' will connect to your flash

almost left my ep-2 batt pack in the cab today... luckily the kind lady driver return it to me.. if not must fork out another 200 - 220 for new one... :sweat:

either you get ep-2 or find another photographer to help you out. at least you have someone to help you rotate.

If don't have, just have lots of batteries. Personally, I think EP-2 not really required for the table shots, you'll have sufficient time for the flash to charge between tables. The improved recharge rate would be useful during the 'Action' like when the couple is coming in etc...
