That's just market forces at work... economy of scale.
Nobody like to be the first to introduce a new species into Singapore but Jason did so because of his personal interest. The first batch is usually small in numbers just to satisfy himself and to test the market and would usually cost more because of the smaller nos. ordered.
If the fish is found to be in good demand, he would import more in the next batch and could therefore bring down the price. Other lfs that didn't want to take the risk would quickly hop in and order for themselves since CF has already tested the market for them.
