Fish photography thread..

Shipment day is always fun ... like Christmas Day presents hehe
It was always a good place to bring the wife to after dinner ... "c'mon why not baby, it's just down the road"

That's just market forces at work... economy of scale.
Nobody like to be the first to introduce a new species into Singapore but Jason did so because of his personal interest. The first batch is usually small in numbers just to satisfy himself and to test the market and would usually cost more because of the smaller nos. ordered.

If the fish is found to be in good demand, he would import more in the next batch and could therefore bring down the price. Other lfs that didn't want to take the risk would quickly hop in and order for themselves since CF has already tested the market for them. :(

i have to admit this although i dont think ive been to his shop. :embrass: without him there wont b the exotic fishes in sg now.

Before I get cited for OT-ing, here's a few more:

schmike, i also get the "fuzzy water" when using the ST-E2 and 430EXII combo. i actually need to spot meter on the subject, just before i snap the shot.

another question: how many flash was used in the gar picture? it's nice to get the whole fish well lit. good job

the fuzzy water is due to small particles n bubbles in the water. i turned off my filters n air pump ard 30 mins before the last shots. still getting that. :( as for the technical cause of those i think u will get a better ans at AF.

i used evaluating metering & ai servo. for my shots.

2x 430EX II was used for both shots.

some lousy shots that i can't bear to del cos these fishes r hiding most of the time.

increase ur aperture to F8 n above shld b better. u need a wider DOF for those fish.

Noted haha think I'll try that with external flash. Hard to keep the f value so small without using flash with the fishes moving here and there.

another way is to push up the ISO + more lights for the tank. thats what i used to do with my kit lens.

now most of my shots r taken with light + flash or flash alone at lower ISO.
