First time buyer from b&h

They routinely ask for a scan/photo of the card if you want the goods delivered to an address within the US, but pay with a card from some other country. Just to protect your money. If you then keep on using the same card, you don't have to re-validate.

When I buy from B&H, I do it when I'm in the US anyway, then just bring the stuff with me home. Lowest shipping costs that way, since many products ship for free within the US.

Besides GST, there may be an additional service charge. My recent purchase from B&H shpped via UPS had a $10 disbursement fee. I think it's ok as they paid for the GST on behalf, and brought the item to my doorstep. They passed the item over when I pay them (in cash or cheque).

Do you mean that
(i) you pay for the GST + disbursement fee to them at your doorstep before they pass the item to you
or
(ii) the GST portion was already billed by B&H when you check out on their website and you just need to pay UPS the $10 disbursement fee?

Hope you can kindly clarify as when I was testing out by adding stuff i wish to buy to the cart, the shipping and tax fee is less than 7% of the item value (>SGD$400 worth).

I think UPS is collecting the GST on behalf of ICA. I believe that the additional $10/- might be their admin fee.

Hello..

I am coming back from usa in late march and was wondering if anyone would like to buy stuff back..

Let me know! PM me or email me at contact.chongng@gmail.com :D

Sorry for late reply. It's (i) and you pay by cash or cheque. UPS uncle waited for a while until payment received. skf is correct in that $10 is admin fee. I guess no service is free nowaday, but beats having to go postoffice to collect it.
