Nikon D50 + Nikkor 18-200VR
Think those zigzag effect was caused by my hand,
I used to view the last taken shot before continue next shot....

were u using tripod?

there are some lenses that creates zigzag effect like the one u exhibited on long exposure and it is not due to shakes etc.etc..

i'm not sure if ur 18-200vr is an isolated case.

I was using a lousy tripod (very easy to shake one),
but I think the main problem is my hand touch the camera before I press the remote control

a few more fotos would shed more light if the problem is indeed with ur lens.

It's the VR on or off when you shoot? Perhaps it's the VR trying to "stablise" the image and causing this?

I assume that you're talking about going up there to for the Esplanade Fireworks in August..... not the NDP Preview today or 9 August NDP.

There is a stairs up from the red star location in the map below (A few months ago when I went, the entry to the stairs was still hidden by heavy construction work (underground MRT station etc.) going on there. I think it's still hidden these days. :

It is hidden from sight only. It is still accesible. I went there to recce last Wednesday (26/07/2006). The construction fencing surrounds it, but left a pathway to it if you walk from the direction of the nearest traffic light.

Hi there,

You can check out this thread I posted some time back. Took a shot of the location of the stairsway.

Possible location for Singapore Fireworks Festival??? Just went to Bras Basha level 24 to check out the view... Did a panoramic...

View-from-Bras-Basha.jpg

I wouldn't say this is a good location, because the view seems to be blocked by those buildings... Anyone got good locations to share?

If u're taking from the Benjamin Sheares Bridge, it'll be the vibrations of passing vehicles causing it.....similar to what happened to my shots for the NE day.

Too bad can't see more of the water reflection.
I prefer if the focus point (fireworks) is more centralized, hehe no offence

These are the few best, the others are normal shots. If they're centralised then there's no composition so i always shoot fireworks offsetting from centre, then also can include other subjects such as the indoor stadium in this case.

The zig zag is caused by your cheap tripod, time to invest in a $15 remote.
