Finland: Summer 2009

I wanted to buy fresh Muikku, small fish as it is very tasty when you clean it, hot smoke it until little crispy and dip it in sea salted water. You can eat it from head to tail...Muikku you can buy from fresh market.

#K5: Supply and demand of fish

#K6: Finnish people love to eat fresh rye bread which you can buy e.g. from the same market and it comes still hot as baked the same morning.

#K7: It was lovely to see Vilma girl who moved to Finland from Singapore more than year back. You can see time flying from the growth of kids.

#K8: Unlike Vilma, this fashion girl doesn't look at camera and doesn't smile much either as fashion girls don't do that as she says :dunno:.

#K9: Anyways, pizza is much better than any Muikku or rye bread (BTW they sell rye bread burger in some MacDonald outlets in Finland)...no problem to wait for a while with coke.

#K9: On the way back home we stopped to wonder an old wind mill which naturally is not in use any more. They used wind mills to grind seeds of harvest to make flour to bake. Wind energy was used to spin huge round stone on the other stone, in between seeds mashed to flour.

awesome shots for No. 4, 6, 7 & 9! did you use HDR treatment to the shots, or was the lake water usually that still to give such clear reflection? :thumbsup:

No HDR, just Photoshop. Shot was so rich in everything that you must hold in PP not to overdo too much. What I tried was to make as natural and as it was as possible.

smalltake&fiberdrive...thanks for your comments. I am very much in learning curve and only I can say is that there is will...hopefully followed by skill. ClubSNAP plays big role in learning...from others.

Finnish dream? One of them is to own a log house at a lake with small fishing boat and smoke sauna. Here is one, even it is an old one and not really modern. But I am sure it hosts happy people during summer vacation.

Farmer's art work. This decoration was at a road side in the middle of nowhere. Really nice for passers by.

This is from another trip to province. Couldn't but stop to wonder the beauty of nature. There are thousands of lakes, this one is small one surrounded by moss.

There is nothing really much required to stop your car for shooting...here I liked contrast of colours, deep blue and fresh grass green. White clouds work as flavour.

Some similarity with previous one but to show small village roads...or this can be farmer's private road to forests and fields. I will save you from more similar ones .

Thanks Redzsky for your comments. Regarding market square in winter, yes there are activities but then we must reduce blue from photos (frozen faces .

C7 is postcard-perfect! is it HDR?

B-setting...yes, it is HDR but tone mapped from single RAW only and then PP'ed. I tried different settings in Photoshop but never got there where I wanted really. Single shot HDR works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Well, I had my tripod there in my car but no idea why I didn't use it for multiple exposure HDR.

I decided, no horse photos any more but this is one I like...

#C13: Fly and a horse

Lets go to province again. There are thousands of lakes in Finland and most of them are connected by canals through which you can take your boat to Singapore if you like. This canal connects 2 lakes with difference of 14 meters of water level. If you want me to explain how it works to get boat from lake A to lake B I may explain with another shot.
