Nope. It will insist on F2.8 at full wide angle. Under dark conditions, it always chooses the largest aperture opening. As all the other point and shoot cameras do.

its pretty good IMO. bought for 3-4 weeks and only charged it once after i got it, using it everyday, on/off zoom-in/out, shoot, preview, download pics to PC, still left 2/3 bar of batt!

From DPReview's 7900 report, its AF is SLOW under low light, and the figures under normal lighting is not impressive as well.

so the comments i have heard on nikon 7900 fast AF are unreliable... :embrass:

Its very informative...

F10 maybe not be a top notch performer in many areas.
Still I'm contented with F10 for its low RGB noise (its main adv)
+ fairly compact size for carrying around daily (wish it is slightly thinner ... ;p ).

Just joined the club ! Got mine through the OCBC offer ... free gifts include a small belt case (with Finepix embossed on it), drybox (a pretty nifty box that allows you to pump out the air and put it in "vacuum" mode), mini-tripod, haversack, cap and cleaning kit (that includes a screen protector).

Only thing is that the haversack has "Canon Powershot" logo on it, and the cap has Fujifilm embossed, but it's for the Korea/Japan World Cup (how long ago was that ?!!).

This is getting to be a pattern ... I've bought 3 digital cameras over the last 4+ years, and they have all been SuperCCD Fujis !

Just played a bit with it ... a few more impressions :

* Startup and shot-to-shot times are almost DSLR-like ... but then my experience with digital P&S are with very old and slow ones This is a worthy sidekick to a DSLR, IMHO ...

* Nice design touches include a tripod mount that is centered with the lens ... will be good for panoramic shots.

* Skin tones are very nice ... in line with what I've seen with other Fuji cameras.

The way this is going, it may just replace my DSLR for 80% of my shooting.

Next step is to buy a larger xD card ... anyone know if 1GB ones are available ? Largest ones I've seen are 512MB.

its a very good camera and i like it a lot, just that low light focusing is not very good, thats all.

some shots yesterday from the ubin outing.

dynamic range is pretty good, no colour adjustments done at all.

just bought this cam today, haven really tried any shots, but as i browse through the cam menu functions, i discovered 2 spelling errors.

balance spelled as ballance
and
Fluorescent as Foluscent

want to ask thse who have bought this if they have the same error in their cams. doesn't really affect anything, but it's weird seeing these mistakes.

just wondering if the cam i bought are from the older batches. i'm not going to mention the name of the shop but it's from a company frequently patronised among the bros here.

Haha, mine too has the spelling errors. Seen the same comment about spelling mistakes on some online review.

Bought it as a cheaper alternative to replace my busted S50, and turns out to be a gem. The low-light capability really shines! Only thing is Fuji's EI rating is actually 1 stop lower than Canon's, i.e. my S50's EI 200 is the Fuji's 100, so the Canon actually uses a faster speed / smaller aperture to obtain same exposure as F10. Nonetheless the Fuji is better at noise-control.

press and hold power button to turn it on until the LCD displays is about 2+ secs

And to review images, don't even have to hit the power button ... just press the "play" button for around 2 sec, and it goes into review mode.

All in all, a very nice, compact package ... inside its case, it goes into a pocket easily on pants or bermudas. Very easy to whip it out, power on, and take a shot ...

just 2 qns,

how long does it takes for ur cam to "save" the pics after u take a pic? mine takes about 2 secs, even longer than the time for the cam to startup when the power button is switched on.

does the high-speed shooting mode makes a difference? i can't really feel any improvement when i set on.

kindly appreciate any feedback!
