Hi Sharf,

Just go to any of the bigger photo copying shops and ask for perfect bind. It's the same kind students use for binding their thesis. It's basically a "leather" hard cover bound by glue and threads, and take a week or two to do. The cost is about $8... I do mine at Queensway Shopping Centre... the famous Ultra-Supplies shop at level 3... :)

Hi Rinaldi86,

The hard cover is actually part of the binding... you can request for different colours. What you want to do is actually print a wrap around paper cover, customized with your book title eg. "Eyes of India". As for ink, I think SLS is slightly cheaper than Funan...

You're really the print king! Wow...saw the pic of your carts.

I've been thinking of buying the ix4000 for my needs - own enjoyment and family albums. Frankly, the dffierence in quality from 6 color vs 4 color isn't all that apparent. But the price is also and also factor in the additional cartridge cost.

What do u think Neo? Any experience on the ix4000?

Hi Java Guru,

I used the iX4000 before. It's a decent budget A3+ (13" x 19") printer that produces beautiful borderless graphic and photo prints. It costs around S$470 brand new. I suggest that you use original Canon papers and inks to get the 'best results'. You can go to the Canon showroom at Funan and ask the sales assistant to give you a sample print (preferbly the Photo Paper Glossy) and see the vivid prints for yourself. The printer is quiet and amazingly fast.

Since this is a budget printer, dont expect miracles from it. Color prints aside, I do lots of B&W prints and I only realised it later that the iX4000 gives a strange brown or sepia cast. No matter what settings I used, it still doesnt give a neutral B&W tone that I was looking for. Maybe there's a solution for this, I dunno.

I recently sold the iX4000 off mainly because I have an iP5200 at home and I seldom print A3 sizes anymore. I have no place to hang them and A4 is just nice for me storage-wise and to
browse through the folders. If you need more info, you can always leave me PM. Hope that helps. Cheers!
