Film prices

haha.. i guess that's why it's called lucky.

looks like painting...haha
problem is, don know the concoction for lucky on d76 and hc110

Just treat them as Tri-x. They are more or less the same thing. But the Lucky is really thin so handle with care after developing. I find they have a weird/soft flow at the highlights too. Not my cup of tea. I'd rather spend my money on a roll of Tri-x.

Lucky film lacks an anti-halation layer. That should explain "the glow". Same case with Kodak HIE.

Heya ray_toei, Why don't you do a mass order or something so that maybe we can save up on the shipping fees on vpost ...

Anyone tried sending the Lucky films to photo shops like Triple D, grace for processing ? Is it a safer and better option?

kampongkid,

thanks. I recently ordered my 135 and 120 film and developer. If you are ordering, I do not mind adding more film.

shld be baa..uncle has been doing it quite some times...but B&W developing is expensive at shops

Some shots on Lucky SHD 100, developed in Rodinal, 1+100, 22mins at 20C

personally, I was quite surprised by the outcome (in a good way)

Yeaps, just started into this area of photography and would really be interested to learn and hopefully master the art of developing the negatives yourself, other than researching online and reading from books, anyone here would like to give some practical lessons about b&w developing ?

Stopped by Ruby this afternoon to get some tri-x 400. No stock currently.
The uncle told me price will increase to $9 from 18-May-2011 onwards.

That is a ridiculous increase. Just when people are getting interested in film again.

seriously lets wait n see if it is going to be $9....a little too much....to stock...

Interesting thing is that the uncle told me Ilford is not raising prices any further. HP5 now is $6.

So price has increased by $0.50??

Wow... from $5 to $9..... that's insane!

the prob is...if u check from page one till now, everyone just speculate the price of the films....one minute its a 10% raise to 20% to now almost 50%.
The date of price increase also keep changing from april to may to 18 may....

i think during these months, the record of sales is the best!

Not doubting if this is a gimmick, but seriously, with careful thoughts, if there is really an increase due to the production cost, then when will be the cut off between the goods that is manufactured with the increased silver vs the old stocks? Plus there is no cut off on the supply of films. Ruby may be out of stock but they replenish equally fast as well...

I always thought that the increase of price should came immediately once the new production cost step in on the new products and not by dates...if not, kodak would be making loss for these new negative...a loss of near 20-50% according to the price increase is alot.

this is just my opinion...

I personally feel that even if you buy loads of them and stock up, and the price remains the same. It won't do you any harm.

Because film is a consumable product.

And, we film users, will be using film forever because it has that grittyness + dimensions that cannot be found in digital! (I guess)

so should i buy bulk now? hmmmm so that i can save? hmmm
