Film prices

ya, same here, i paid $5.. since when it's $4.70? i bought several times.. all the times it is $5..

It did used to cost $4.70. I bought at that price about 1.5 - 2yrs ago. I just checked Ruby today and people have been stocking up to prepare for the price increase. Lately I've been told that more people are getting into film via the Lomo or Diana cameras. But if film costs shoot up, any resurgence of film is likely to go down the drain again :(

Just when to ruby today, the uncle told me kodak film will increase by 70%:o

2 weeks ago, the auntie told me it will only increase 50 cents...

Which one do you guys think is more accurate?
If kodak increase by 70%, time to consider ilford, or buying arista premium online..

maybe you heard wrong? perCENT?

Tri-X $5 2 weeks ago.

The uncle told me price increase will be from 50%-70%. But I think that's exaggerating.

I just bought some stuff for myself and other people there. This is the latest:

1. Kodak TriX 400 - 35mm: S$5.00
2. Kodak TriX 400 - 120mm: S$4.30
3. Changing bag - M size: S$23
4. 2 reel developing tank (come with 2 reels) : S$33.00
5. Plastic reels: $14.00
6. HC110 473mL : S$20.00
7. Ilford Rapid fixer 1L: S$14.00
8. Thermometer: S$18.00

Increase of 50%?! Luckily I stocked up on Tri-X a few weeks back. Maybe I should extend or reopen my film MO before prices become too drastic...

all this talk of doom & gloom.. it's been over a month plus and prices still haven't gone up... seems like ruby's the only one touting price increase as far as I can tell..

well prices will definitely go up in time, but seems like the drastic jump in prices haven't materialized.. really hope it doesn't though.. fingers crossed.

Better buy all you can! I just went home with three boxes of films, chemicals and dev kits plus load of papers. BTW, it was me who took all the HC 110. hehe

Ya today ruby tell me price going up. 1 box portra is 12 dollars lei........

Yep. The new portra 400 is in at ruby at 12/box.

Anyway they also mentioned Kodak films are increasing by quite a big amount. TriX will be increased from 5 to 8 if i remember correctly. HP5+ will be increased from 5.5 to 6. Bummer.

I think I will have enough developer to last me a long time... 5l of xtol...

Technically Ilford's products shouldnt increase. The Ilford rep says they wont increase price of silver based materials this year as they still have stock of silver.

Technically yes but retailers might raise the prices to take advantage of the situation...

12 bucks?! 35mm or 120?? the film box got a coating of gold leaves ahh??

New Portra 400 35mm for 12/roll.

I'm not sure if it's the one with gold leaves but I did double check if it was the new portra 400 and the reply was "yes it just arrived yesterday"

The guys from the second round of my MO got it for less than $9 per roll, lucky them!

B&H raised their prices for Portra 400 as well. Luckily Adorama's prices are still the same.

i hope kodak bw film price will not be higher than ilford. If kodak cost higher than ilford, I have to change brand, and adapt to it:(

I hope HP5+ is really equivalent to tri-x, any one has compare tri-x and hp+5 before?

As I've posted above, the shop uncle said trix is increasing from it's current 5 to 8.

lets just hope with the increase in price, the quality will not fall.. I think that is more important.. Like no one really knows if the new portra 400/160 is actually better(even though they claim it as such)...
