That seems to be more of a supplier issue, which is beyond retailers' control - retailers can order, but sometimes delivery would be late.

Same here. I'm like waiting for the Sigma lens forever. I do agree with imaginary no. that it's more of a supplier issue.

MS for me. Price may not be the best but super service. Talk to Jackson. Got most of my things from him.

Hi ja_chew: Agree with imaginary_number. Don't think they don't want to do your business. For that matter, anyones' business. Try again??

 for MS COLOR! Good service, great price! You don't even have to bargain!
CP is great too but their pricing is usually higher.

:thumbsd: TCW. I once sent in a camera to replace the light seal and they took two weeks to do it! They didn't even bother to call me when they said they will. After calling them up a couple of times, the technician even told me he's busy with other stuff! Worse still, he had to ask me how much they quoted me earlier. Don't they know???

Alamak i do hope you told the guy that it is FOC? ;)

Heard MS colour so-good-and-so-good. Have to pay them a visit...

At least retailer should have basic courtesy to call customer mah...

I don't totally agree with your notion that it's considered basic courtesy - rather, that's a form of value-added service. They do provide notification services though, if you leave them your contact no. and request to be informed when stocks arrive, NOT when stocks do not arrive. Even that is a bonus to the customers, not a duty that is bound to the retailers. I wouldn't like to imagine the responsibility of making hundreds or even thousands of calls just to inform people (many of whom aren't genuine buyers) that stocks did not arrive when the retailers failed to make a punctual delivery.

Ah.. now I remember why your nick sounds familiar - you PMed me once to ask me to reserve my G5 for u.

So far I had been to AP and CP only.....erm.....my experience are more or less the same at both places :dunno:

bought all my stuffs from AP.. been to CP and TCW...
their attitude abit suck lei.. if u wear jeans and shirt, they won't bother to entertain u one.. unless u wear suit and pants, then they will greet u with a smile and everything.
u know what i mean? they just look down on people... scare i no money to buy(can be true)...

MS Color sold me a digicam with a price higher than the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) as shown in Courts.
On the other hand, Cathay Photo, Alan Photo & John 3:16 will sell me at a price equal or lower than the RRP, whether I am new customer or not.

hmm...i did have a chat with them once on this and from what i understand it was not intentional. when a product is launched, it is sold a a certain RRP. sometimes the manufacturer/agent (eg. canon) will drop the RRP after a period of time. every once is a while, this does not get communicated to shops like ms color and they only find out when the customer asks or complains. there have been such cases brought up in previous threads and i believe they were resolved by ms color quite quickly. maybe ms needs to put in some effort to keep up to date on the RRPs but the thing is if you encounter such a situation, dont hesitate to approach mr & mrs loh. i'm sure they will fix it up in no time.

Sorry to intrude into this thread, but as I read, all the above shops have good and bad points. Some say go shop A, some say shop A suck... Really confused..

I am a newbie, just came back to SG after a 2-month absence, and I want to buy a D70 kit. Where is a reputable shop to go? And look for who?

Perhaps some kind soul can help? Heard price ard 1750 w GST. Is this true that it has dropped so much?

Oops...sorry didn't see this is a Canon forum....Will post in Nikon forum then...

most CSers will recommend u get from one shop all the time to build up a relationship. then, u can get better offers. ;) there's no one THE shop to go to. whichever u're most comfortable with, dats ur fav shop.

Ditto...

If you want a once-off-cheapest-deal-hit-and-run shop, then go knocking on all the shops mentioned and get it from wherever u'll get the best price... ;p

But personally, I've got lots of great deals from MS Colors for the past 5 years. Once in a while, I might find that I'm actually paying marginally higher prices (in quantums of $20+-), but I know that I'm getting far better deals by building on my relationship with them in the long run... ;)

i go for John

As a previous poster had said, it's not just the store, but also who you are dealing with at the store. John 3:16 was ok, somewhat helpful, but very professional, that is important. Now, I buy almost all my "toys" from Sally at Cathy Peninsula Plaza. Those that I don;t get from her, I usually get from the States.
