I really dislike "Camera Solutions" and "Perth Camera House";
Last time I went to Camera Solutions, I asked for the price of the lens, and he asked if I was serious about buying it! Then I told him that I saw better price at other shop, and he said "what was it? go find the best price and then call me, I'll try to beat it, here's my card"... I walked out and never again!
And then Perth Camera House... My friend asked for a cheaper price on the monopod, and the man said "Don't be cheeky" then he turn around ready to walk away and I asked "what's the maximum load on the monopod?" and he said "Sorry, we don't do that here". oh oh oh, and last time, I asked if they have the 70-200 f/4L, he brings out the 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II. I'm not saying anything bad about the lens, maybe just saying about staff who work at a camera shop, yet don't know what L is? Maybe it's my fault for going there to ask in the first place! hehe

Relax dude, no one's asking u for justification of any form on that matter. Don't have to get uptight over it. Just mentioned why I found your nick familiar.

Cheers...

I went around other SimLim square shops looking for my camera last week, but was disappointed (some over priced or some out of stock) till i reached that shop called "Edison". They had plenty of the model i wanted, and the price was cheaper than other shops including AP. Service is good. And they gave me the canon gifts on the spot without being necessary to go and collect at Canon center which saved me a lot of trouble.

And the next day, i found out the CF card I got had some problems, so that i went back to the shop. Without making a noise, the guy exchanged a new CF card for me, and i came home happy.

:angel:

I know the odds, but Edison got my vote. :D

John 3:16 and Cathay Photo at Marina Square.

I dislike Cathay Photo at Peninsula Plaza. Rude sales staff that seem to only want to make the quick sale. Very unlike the staff at Marina Square who are very attentive, helpful and friendly.

I usually go to MS Color, TCW or CP (Penninsula). For CP, it really depends on who you meet/know - one guy there is weird: quoted me 2 different prices ($192 and $375) for essentially the same item within 1 week. MS COlor is more attentive and willing to bend over to order or search for out-of-stock items.

My 2-cents worth...

I went to MS as it is convenient. I guess like some ppl say, it depends on who u serves u. Service wasn't that great, but the sales person at least was not rude and allowed me to test the camera and have some questions answered. The second time I went there, he recognized me. This time I made a purchase and the whole process was very quick (less than 10 mins), mostly coz I already did my research and knew what to get. Will go there again to get filters, etc...

I frequent cp the most. Theres this nice middle aged lady, nice and friendly.

Dude, I called back to SG from Perth to Cathay Photo to get my supplies and family picked it up to send to me to Curtin, while I did film and TV , minoring in Photography. that's how I get my photography stuff. NOT IN PERTH.

Only great service I had was a 1-for-1 exchange on the lifetime guarantee for a LowePro bag I got at CP , with the Perth dealer. good stuff.

Yes, no more buying things here for me then!
Unless the difference is very small (but usually it's large!)

MS Color's the one for me... they are very friendly when you need their advise and won't bother you when you don't need them... hehehe. :thumbsup:
