Faulty Ixus V3?

Haha .. i am also one of the lucky ixus V3 free upgraded to Ixus50 ..

Wow, so the replacement set is not standardised or it depends on your faulty Ixus? I was given the Ixus i zoom. Ixus 50 seems better, at least the optical zoom is.

hmm, looks like canon gave us all different replacement cameras. you are fortunate canon confirmed inability to repair and gave you a replacement on the spot. i had to wait for almost 6 months before they confirmed the lack of replacement parts and that i could keep the loaned digicam. whatever, i am pleased with the outcome although i wish they would let me keep my v3.

Yep, I'm quite pleased & impressed with their service level. Like you, I wish I could keep my V3 even if it's not working, but guess we can't have best of the 2 worlds. Just curious, which camera did you get?

there is a long history to this ccd problems, the first people got their cameras repaired free, some time later people need to pay $140 for a new camera in exchange for the faulty ones. next some are offered the ixus50 and later now the ixus izoom. On paper its a loan so :dunno:

If I had known, I should not have rushed to repair my S1 so fast. Maybe I could have got a S3 free! And I should not have sold away my V3. Should have waited till the CCD fails and gotten a Ixus i Zoom for free!

Thats exactly what I was discussing with my friend yesterday after I bought S3, told her maybe 3 years later S3 spoilt they got no parts to repair will give me a new one. :bsmilie:

Probably they found it more economical to give a replacement instead? Happy customers mean recurring business & loyal customers. Helps build up their reputation too. :think:

well they should give a free replacement if they do not want their reputation to go down the drain and mass customer defection.

say guys, did canon throw in a free sd card with your replacement camera? i got an ixus 55 as a replacement.

Yep, on top of the 16 MB SD card, they gave me a free 256 MB Kingston SD card as well. If only they gave me an Ixus 55 ;p

there were so many brands that have the faulty CCD from a same source. Fuji, nikon, canon, sony etc... deflect here and there end up the same. i suspect the faulty ccd manufacturer co-pays your new camera.

The culprit is Sony. Anyway, I doubt they co-pay. Most likely, it is Canon Singapore that is doing you the favours. In fact, I have not even heard of the other companies doing any free repair, let alone upgrade.

Mine actually 6 months back sent for servicing .. say no spare parts need to wait 3 months .. so loan us a ixus50 .. few weeks back call us say no more spare part and we get to keep the ixus50. veryhappy about it.
