Fate of 5D2 after 5d3 appearance?

Oh man based on his theory I need to sell my 5D2 liao. I cannot have both good and crappy camera in the same dry cab. Crap is infectious.

Human base on Human theory... Crab based on Crappy theory...

I believe you are human... :)

Lol crab! Nice :D

It'll still have a strong following in the second hand market for the budget conscious/practical professional shooters.

Just because a camera isn't the latest gizmo in town doesn't mean that its not capable of taking good pictures ;)

5DMKII still serves a purpose to me... dun think i will upgrade to MKIII... probably i will wait for MKIV instead lol.

i am still shooting landscape most of the time then occasionally pre wedding and i dun need that many focus points... still satisfied with the existing ISO capabilities...

I am tempted to get a MKII or even classic (when the price drops rock bottom) as back up though.

Agreed! At the end of the day it's the person behind the lens..if tt person can't shoot for nuts how good a camera given to him is pointless

Mark 2 has given me quality photos for the past 3 years or so...just becos new technology has replaced its shortcomings.. Overnight it has become "crap"??

No..no..no.. It just doesn't deserve that statement haha..

Its just like the release of the 70-200/2.8L IS II suddenly made the 70-200/2.8L (Mark I) a crappy lens, when it had been the bread and butter lens of most professionals prior to the release of the Mark II.

That's right, they're just tools.

If a crappy singer buys a brand new gold plated microphone.......they are still going to be a crappy singer.

Frankly, it's hard to buy the 5D2 after you see the performance of 5D3. My 5D2 will not see light anymore... Only serve as a backup :(

Agree... 5Dmk2 will most probably serves as a backup but doesnt mean it cannot be used again. It is quite subjective actually. If you think it is good, it is good. If it is not then move on to better models.

for studio/ commercial/ landscape photographers the 5D3 offers very little :)
I might consider picking up a 5D2 if the price for used units drops below $1.5k :P

Same thoughts... an used 5Dmk2 is a very very very good backup if not alternative video camera to owners of Sony FS100 and Panansonic AF102 which the latter two give users the choice using back Canon L lenses.

 The appearance of 5Dmk3 brings us back to the time when 5D classic was being replaced by the 5Dmk2. Users saying 5Dmk1 cannot do these cannot do that, upgraded to 5Dmk2 then shiok shiok. Now the 5Dmk3 comes along, and all these hype of 5Dmk3 being better and capable (which I agree mk3 is a good upgrade) and 5Dmk2 no longer let them shiok, wanna lust for a 5Dmk3 now.\ :bsmilie:

You mean people suddenly cannot make good photos using 5DII just because there is now a mark III? Your mentality is seriously flawed. 5DIII being better doesn't mean 5DII is crap.

To me... a camera that work is not crappy... it is the photog that take crappy pictures.... :bsmilie:

Let me reiterate again, it is the user who is in control of the equipment not the other way round. I saw many crap wedding pictures being produced by crap photographer wannabes over the years again and again.

New equipment is to let one feel shiok or not shiok!!! It is subjective and to me, need to upgrade is due to work needs, not shiok shiok :bsmilie:

5dmk2 is the best value for money FF now.
Those on crop, no need to wait !

one's man meat is another man's poison, there no need for such quote here. If one's have the financial capability, why not?
Life is short, enjoy it while u can. All i can say is that there's a lot of rich ppl down here. hehe.:bsmilie:

Perhaps 1) they don't want to buy a used 5DII and 2) they can't justify buying a digital camera from 2008?

Of course the camera isn't the only thing, but it helps. More power to the CSers who now have access to a more affordably priced full frame camera though!

Totally agreed... poor man like me cannot afford a $4k++ camera.... not justify also..... so good time to go into FF now... either D700 or 5DMKII..... .... then wait and save up for the MKIII to drop to a more pocket friendly level..... and with the $$$ save, use it to buy better lens.....

Those who want a new camera, go for the mk 3. The AF is a big improvement over mk 2. There are improvements here and there which I feel justified the cost. Else there is always the mk 2 which I feel is a good enough camera for lots of us. There is also the classic for those on a shoe string budget and dont need video, not to mention those 1Ds2 and 3 which will also have their price spiralling down. Lots of FF for everyone. Just pick one within your budget.

It's a merry go round of sorts. Years down the road when a new model perhaps a MK4 is launched all sorts
of crappy comments will be levelled at the MK3. It's a never ending story.

Trust me... After using the 5dmark3, you won't look back..
