Did any of the affected photogs replied to his sms to let the organiser know that you are close to the location already .... ?

If the organiser know there are 5 photogs already close to the location, the base on the stated min ration of 4:1 ... the shoot should carry on ...

Now if the models were not already cancelled and/or are nowhere close to the location, then it may be a different story ...

Well... heres my sms reply when I got the shoot cancellation sms...
"U must be kidding me. I am already on my way." :sticktong

Sorry Jaykay & Alankpy....

Ask both of u to join this shoot but end up in this mess.
Apologised for making your weekend so miserable...
You are a friend to think of us when you went for what would appeared to everybody to be a popular shoot and which outcome nobody could have anticipated. It wasn't any fault of yours that it happened at all so don't need to feel bad about it.

what Alankpy pointed out is a very interesting point. how does anyone know if there really are (say) so many people who actually sign up?

if money is already paid in advance any, even if there is 1 paying participant who is turning up, the shoot should still proceed. unless there are phantom participants then the reason to cancel the shoot is understandable.

for what Jeanie has said. how does anyone tell the difference between a popularity vote against actual credible reputation? that is a tough act to pull off...

not exactly repu point system, but almost there.

this should teach organisers to fly less A380.

Thanks for the heads up. You are really on the ball posting the information only 6 mins after it comes on line.

Just an update, the organiser called me yesterday dinner time. However, as there many others who may have an interest in his explanation and I do not want to post hearsay, I told him to respond in this thread.
Darren did state in the shoot sub-forum poll that
"Also, members may post short kudos or feedback on any particular Organiser in this thread and we request that longer complaints (should there be any) be created in the FAQ/Feedback section"

i happen to log on in the morning and saw Darren's post.

i have never join group shoots before, hence i have no interest as to who is a good/bad organiser.

i really just hate people who fly planes.
especially towards the last min.

me too... mod status aside...

what i can say to be fair is that.

1) Have the organiser collected the payment before the shoot? if yes, he should carry on with the shoot. cos even if only 1 guy go for the shoot. the rest have already paid and its their problem for not coming already.

2) If the organiser have yet to collect payment, then also his fault. He should probably blacklist those who fly kite, and probably post their names and/or contact details down as a warning to other organisers and other participants.

There is no way an organiser can just walk away from a shoot at last minute. It shows pretty much the capacity of the organiser. Its not like going for an outing to shoot macro with kakis, 1 fall sick, then u think wanna go anot...

thanks, i saw the link

the weak link is still the people's opinion. how does 1 know the margin of error? i like A's model, i vote for A. B is a better (well organised, punctual, etc) but i like A's models better, more chatty, prettier, so on...

or am i openning up another can of worms...

i think (my opinion) a list of KPI (more standardised & measureable) is easier to track. fyi, i oso never join any shoots before. just not consumer friendly enough.

totally agree with all your points.

maybe with the exception of outdoor shots where the weather is beyond the organiser's control (weather forecast oso got margin of error).

i wonder if shoot cancellations due to poor turnout (if this is the case) can stated upfront like, **hours before the shoot, ideally 24hours?

There should always be contingency plans for experienced or diligent organisers.

If rain, go nearby shelter shoot, etc, should be factored in.

Lets see what the organiser will reply with.

I do suggest a best practices of confirmation of shoot on or not at least 2 days before the shoot itself. However, I know that many do not even practise this.

hopefully more organisers will adopt such a practice. even if it means the nature of the shoot is different. from outdoor to indoor?

hope participants dun post rant thread say organiser never promise the sun...

2 days advance notice is a very good & wide buffer, not under 2hours before shoot.

Yes, Zell called me too. Apologised & explained his difficulties.
Honestly deep in my heart, i can't accept those reasons.
But promised him i would not want to make things worst here.

Hope he honour what he has promise as per our tele-conversation.

What unacceptable reasons did he give?

It's a private settlement ... :bsmilie:

Well buddy, that depends if he honour wat he promise over the phone.

Just to share, Zell also called me on Monday dinner time, explaining what happened. I told him its better he explain on Clubsnap, or he can explain to the admin/mod privately in pm.
