Hi everyone ,

I bought this "crumpler Europe" backpack bag from this shop In Queensway shopping centre a few weeks ago for $160(discounted for clearance).
When I got home, upon careful examination of my local crumpler bag with this , I realised that they seem different . The crumpler Europe bag's quality does not seem to be the same . The padding seems thinner compared to the local one. I want to ask if anyone has take on this. I wondering whether I bought a fake one.Thank you.

see made in where.

got made in Vietnam, Australia and so on. From what you say, guess the QC may not be consistent.

Well , the best part is, it is not stated where it is made in. ( or least couldn"t find the tag on the bag ).Below are the pictures of the bag.

I personally think they are fake. I have 3 friends who got Crumpler bags, one from Queensway, one bought from Vietnam, and one received as a gift. The material from all of them are thinner, and less padding. There is one which I examined and found the inner material used very unlike something Crumpler would use. The giveaway for me is the logo, which is different (you can't see it clearly in these pictures).

i'm not familiar with this model, but the material seems worng, looks glossy. i think most of the crumpler bags i've seen the material is meshed. so can u find this design on the crumpler UK website? there should be a label somewhere in the bag that states the name of the model...

for the price u paid i suggest u go back to check with the shop for authenticity

also check for quality and build. how's the stiching? the symmetry? etc

I wonder why they charge so high even though it's fake !:nono:
damn, I should have kept the receipt and complained to case.

if they charge low they might get slapped upon complaints from Crumpler. So they charge like promotion and clearance sale, especially now during GSS. Less suspicious.
Still, if you feel it's a fake you can check with any other official Crumpler distributor here for comparison. Or take some more detailed pictures and get in touch with Crumpler HQ for verification. Won't change the damage to your pocket but at least the fakes get removed from market.

Looks a lot like this model,

hmm, the padding and velco looks different.

How abt u bring down to the outlets at Wheelock or Paragon?

Just tell them u receive it as a birthday gift and ask them to check it out for u as somehow u don feel that its an orginal crumpler product.

:D

I used to have a crumpler (UK) bag and the labels and all seems right. but from ur pictures, the material seems totally wrong. The chickentex material seems flimsy on yours unlike those of european/australian crumpler. Check ur label? Is the printing proper and sharp? Or does it look like a photocopy? Don't think checking with crumpler sg would help as they won't know about the european models, but its still worth a try. Or you can try going back to the shop and asking about its authencity even though u don't have the receipt. Somehow, i doubt the quality of the goods sold at some of the shops at queensway shops. just my two cents.:dunno:

Queensway seems to be a popular place to get sports shoes and bags. So, there might be counterfeit stuff there we need to watch out for?

yes, you're right. was walking around there the other day and saw some deuter bags. Somehow IMO they seem like pirated ones that sell in China. So when shopping at queensway, i guess it's better to be careful with what you buy and check properly first.

The worst thing about counterfeit is that they charge you slightly lower than the genuine ones so as to make people think they are getting the real thing at a discount. It is not like they blatantly touting their stuff as pirated at a much, much lower price.

the material definitely looks fake. :)

Looks fake IMHO...The material looks like too plasticy

All the stitching and printing looks okay, the only thing is that the material seems flimsy and the padding very thin... unlike the local ones...

There is only one shop there selling crumpler....:bheart:

Looks like an obvious fake. Like those you get in China for 100-150 RMB (20-30 SGD) retail. Cost price at the factory end is probably around 30-50 RMB (6-12 SGD)
This is probably one of the lousier fakes as it looks too obvious. If you ever come across good (class A) fakes, it is very hard for you to tell the difference. For your info, class-A fake LV bags are around 50-80RMB wholesale from the factories.

One thing more, please don't ask me how I know all these. I can only tell you I am not personally involved in manufacturing, selling or distributing of fake or imitation items. However, if you ever want to come up with your own brand and get bags made, I can point you to the right direction. =P
