F828 S'pore launch?

I went down to the launch yesterday 5pm and managed to play with the F828. Pretty good handling except for the zoom worked opposite direction of the conventional lens.
I am considering either Sony F828 and Canon 300D ( both abt the same price) and as i didn't bring along any CF, i can't really make out the depth of field achieved with its max. aperture thru its EVF.
I was wondering if owners of F717 can advise me if the smallest DOF is narrow enuf for taking good portrait using Sony F717?

maybe that's why there's the need to be invited, practically an open bikini show.

reminds me of something a friend of mine told me (forgot who already) - canon makes their own still camera lenses, nikon makes their nikkor, fuji has fujinon, since when was sony known for making still camera lenses? :dunno:

hahahah. I was there at 10 in the morning, and there was this guy in front of me who has his Memory stick and tested for a good...... who knows how long. I waited for 10 minutes and left.....

Came back after breakfast and tested. The feel is good. I still feel there was some (much lesser than 717 though) lag still.

Excellent lens, intrigued by the night shot function. This function take some darn good potraits during day light. Naughty people, this is not some cheekopek see thru clothes function. (I felt that I need to say this as I heard 2 persons asking is this the infamous see thru clothes thingie sony made a wooha some time back).

I would say this is ideal for someone who wants the feel of a DSLR but can live with one lens and needed the size and potability.

The price a bit steep - 1799. I would say this will be a best seller if sony pitch it in the 1.3k to 1.4k region.

There was some bikini models there.. I shamelessly took my canon to shoot the models and some other setup. Saw many clubsnappers there, including Astin.

:bsmilie: maybe it was me. I was using a DSLR and a tele.
Was very hesitant to use my cam in there but the waiting period to test the 828 was too long so....... heck care - shoot!

Very nice feature is the "unlimited" AF point selection.. you can move the AF point anywhere in the frame! Feel is also very SLR-like, to select a function just push/hold down button for function and turn knob.

I have ask the trade show jap tech sale, he say all 3 set F828 is only a factory cam. The productions is far more good than that. :thumbsup:

Lets hope so. Didn't have the chance to look at the camera--long 828 queue. But booked one none the less. Will probably be selling the Aluminium case. Any 707/717 owner interested?

nice shot. Juz the picture i am looking for to see how narrow the DOF can go for this camera. (not narrow enuf for me)

Maybe u can try posing the model further away from the background next time. Might not be the problem of the lens performance. Or am I talking nonsence again?
