no wonder so unlucky...black cat! :D
just kidding...wah..you so particular..I had to enlarge the shot and strain my eyes to see the lines...anyway, my friend who is a "canongrapher" tells me such lines are also found in canon cameras and not unusual...

Actually... i tested my other cam a Casio Exilim...also have the similar little not very noticable bandings leh... i think its a common thing for digi cam. prolly due to certain setting

why worry abt the banding... imo, just go out and enjoy the shooting.
whether mine with banding or not, i dont bother to check.
this was taken with f11 bought recently.

It is important, if you do need the resolution, then vertical banding should not be accepted. Afterall, we shouldn't be accepting problems that the manufacturers should be settling.

just got back my camera. fuji replaced the internal assembly. i'm quite please with the results. now even at iso 1600, noise seems to be random and vertical bandings no longer exist.:)

can post a pic with 100% crop? with some shadow and hilights region?
it seems that banding is starting to appear on and off on my F11 now.. even at ISO800.

How long did it take you to get the thing repaired? looks like 3 weeks by looking at your post.

It took me roughly 3 weeks to get back my camera...

That's good news! How did you convince them to repair your camera? Did you go to Fuji service centre?

I would like to try to service my camera also :)

Hi guys,
Thinking of getting the F11 but also trying to avoid the vertical banding problem. Is there any way at all, with the tiny LCD screen and naked eye in the shop, to detect signs of vertical banding? Think perhaps the only way is either to take a sample, zoom in max to try to take a look or alternatively (and probably get chased out by the shop owner), bring a notebook and immediately download the pic for viewing.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Michael

Hi all,
Just to check if there are any ways to detect vertical banding at the shop just before purchase? Thanks!

hi mike, i think u have answered yr own question in the earlier post. u have to bring a laptop and download the pic and magnify to the largest to judge if there is any vertical bending problem. no way u can detect from the tiny screen.

Well, this was something I hoped not to do, and would not mind if the shop has a return policy....wonder if Harvey Norman accedes to such request? I am sure the popular ones like MS, CP and AP do not offer return policy.....
