well said mohgui bro, very true! That's why the more wider the street circuit, the more dangerous, because the team strategist and the driver will be stupid not to take advantage of any overtaking opportunities! For those who don't know, the driver is constantly receiving instructions over the intercom earpiece during the race from his race strategist, and I can tell you, asking him to drive safely is the last thing you will ever hear him say hor! Most likely is "OVERTAKE THE BaS.TARD NOW!!!!!!!!":bsmilie:

Not the track design but the design of the diffuser under the car. The turbulent air created causes ~50% loss in front downforce. Esp the toyofa TF108 is super hard to follow around valencia, you cant go closer than 1 sec to it. Wider track does not mean easier to overtake.

Actually its more like encouragement only. They'll tell him "we need to maintain the gap to the guy in front by 2 secs mate!"
the track design sure plays a part in whether the cars have opportunities to overtake or not. and i do agree that wider tracks do not mean it's easier to overtake. the turbulent air may play a factor too.
to overtake, you need to have long uninterrupted straights with a turn somewhere at the end. drivers with balls can overtake each other with late braking moves. if the track consists of twists and turns and short straights... very difficult to overtake.
it's just my personal opinion lah.

agree with that. Hopefully for singapore gp they can over take at the end of the long straight after suntec. Hopefully there is enough grip on the dirtier line to do so.

Those volunteers who are getting NOMEX Suit, please be wary of something. Marshal services are run by volunteers whose background you do not know at all, you have no idea if someone will take your IC and use it to apply for handphone line, credit card, cable TV, or even worse lose it, or worst case scenario, use it to borrow money from loanshark, apply for HDB flat (serious, happened before) or sell it to illegal syndicate and tell you they lost your IC. There is nothing you can do if that happens. Remember, your IC will be out of your sight in someone else's hand (you don't know who) for more than 10 hrs from 25-28 Sept every day. Alot of things can be done with your IC during that time, someone can leave the race grounds and use your IC to borrow money from loansharks during those 10 hrs. The potential fallout of what can happen with your IC in someone else's hands, especially in a stranger's hands, is very dangerous. Nowadays, even alot of condos don't confiscate IC in exchange for security pass, because many people are wary of surrendering their IC to strangers.

The solution is very simple. When the volunteers draw the NOMEX suit, verify the address and IC no, BUT DO NOT confiscate the IC. Ask them to sign a form that they agree to reimburse the cost of the suit if they lose it. They have to return the suit at the end of every day anyway. Whatever it is, DO NOT be so silly to surrender your IC to anyone. This is the first time F1 is held, I guarantee you, sure alot of confusion and mess on race day, especially logistics relating to volunteers. I do not trust the volunteers working for marshal services one bit, so what if they work for marshal services, we do not know their integrity, or their character, or background. You let any tom, dick and harry take your IC, what if they lose it, or use it for something without your knowledge, who is going to take responsibilty. Not worth it right, just for three days of no pay work, and alot of trouble coming your way if something happen to your IC, or if they misplace it or worse?

Wah, your class got ang moh volunteer?! I heard got one japanese woman come to singapore specially just to be volunteer? Dunno how much she spend on air tickets just to attend training! Bruno is live in singapore or he also fly in like the japanese?
