Hey nsalman. Thanks alot for your comments. I'm flattered. :)

This is a simpler wedding and there is no gifts involved. I've got some shots of the nikah ceremony but didn't post them. Perhaps you can pop by this temp location to view more of the images of this wedding as well. ;)

Please feel free to advice/comment. :)

ah...very nice..here's a tip. go close, very close for the nikah...the hands, the eyes, the eybrows, the kadi's face, the pen...I don't know...these "small" things fills up the gap of memories for the bride and groom, for e.g the pen used may have been specially selected. In my days, film was used and the charges were per roll. Now that DC is more prevalent...just shoot...and try to take more of the audience during the nikah...especially when they starts their recitation or prayers of thanks...

I don't know whether you've tried it...but try slower shutter speed to capture the busyness of the event...especially during the nikah...try to capture the blurring of the hands as the groom shake hands with the kadi while the rest remain sharp. I find using slow sync flash works best...

Keep the angle low...try not to shoot looking down at the bride and groom..after all they are king and queen for the day.

Maybe you know all this and maybe I have er, hurt you feelings, but I really think you got the eye for taking weddings. I just thought of giving you pointers of what to look out for...

p.s my own wedding photos turn out so so, young guy, pics came with unsightly shadows...

all the best.

Hey nsalman. Thanks so much for your advice on this. They are indeed very useful tips. No hard feelings at all! That's how we can improve. Will take note of your advice for the next shoot (if I do get another chance). :)

For the shadows, it can be pretty tough to avoid them sometimes if there's no proper place to bounce. Diffusers still do not work as well as bouncing off walls I feel. Using natural light may sometimes fail to bring out the vibrant colours of a malay wedding. That's my 2 cents of opinion.

my gear when I shoot malay weddings, indoors would always be a metz 60 hammerhead with a flashgun for the keylight. The metz helps the kill the shadows..

Ahh...hehe. Thanks for sharing your experience. Probably I don't see myself holding a hammerhead. One thing is the weight, 2nd, it'll turn some heads. :D

Still trying to refine on getting the right lighting and mood. Thanks for your sharing and support here. :)

Agree. Malay weddings are colourful. Hence colours are extremely impt in my opinion. The use of the ambient lights do not bring out the colours sometimes.

As for the hammerhead, I feel that it kills the mood sometimes. However, the use of the hammerhead is extremely good for high ceiling places like the halls of the CCs. Hammerhead comes in really very useful.

awesome. you bring your photos to life. hope to see more sides of the wedding, for eg, the catering, the gifts, the food!

Hey Creaxion. Glad that you agree with me on this. Hope to see more works from you too.

Hey Zac03. Glad you like the images and thanks for commenting. The groom of this wedding did not present gifts. Did not upload the food pictures though it's just a handful. But will take note of posting them up next time. Getting busy.

nice exposures, how did you achieve such accuracy ?

Thanks. I won't say that I'm accurate on this. Would normally use manual exposure when I'm in a fixed environment to have a generally acceptable exposure. Some adjustments were made in Photoshop. You can try work with levels and curves. ;)
