Eyecup for OMD-EM5 issues

Got feddup.. Choose not to use instead!

I broke my eyecup and thankfully I had epoxy glue so it is fixed. They should have made it using metal or something. An oversight in design perhaps.

wow, epoxy glue onto the rubber itself or applied to the joints??

Strip the rubber, using magnifying glass to join the broken part, once dry, apply small amount of rubber glue (thin layer) to hold rubber onto plastic. After everything is dried (about 72 hours later), it is good as new, and the joint that was fixed should be stronger than before. Because the rubber now covers the broken area, there is no way I can take a macro shot to share with you guys. Sorry.

Many years of experience with "Air Fix" helps.

Mine cracked over at this side of the eye cup. Now that it is fixed, it does not bother me anymore.

You do know what electric tape does in a few weeks' time, don't you?

I honestly don know and I'm curious ; what happen? EP-10 turn into EP-11 ?

Ermm... Like melt or something, becomes sticky!

Yup. Even with high end 3M electrical tape. So if you (or anyone) who wants to do this (which is quite clever actually), use gaffer tape. It was designed for photographic equipment. And the better quality ones don't even leave a stain after you removed it. Great for masking work when shooting products. (That is a different discussion altogether).

Have fun. I am going to try the tape thing later. Can't believe what a simple solution this is.

Any idea where we can get gaffer tape ?

I don't live in Singapore so I cannot help you here.

Any other members of this community can help?

Typically they are sold at camera supply shops, but I am not sure if the usual suspects carry them.

Haha, no prob. Will look around for it.
So far the sch glue solution has worked pretty well for me but no matter what , the gaffer tape solutions seems more reliable

Just patched it up :) and yes, its super sturdy. Think almost impossible I'll lose it from dropping it. Only thing left is the weak rubber link.
