I forgot something else. The display of my SP350 kong off on me some time last year. I sent it for repair here in Sg, the guys at Oly Sg told me it would cost $180 to be repaired. Then I brought it to China. Oly China repaired it for RMB300 which is less than S$60

More importantly, they fixed it properly within the first try, right?
The best thing about it was Oly China agent gave a WRITTEN 6 months gaurantee for same fault remedy. That is : if the same fault should happen within a 6 month period they gaurantee to repair it again for free.
Same as the original poser ... the subsequent job took much less time than the initial repair job ....let me also share my experince here.
My e1 viewfinder was full of dust. (it is not just one or two tiny spot)
since it was still within the warranty period, I sent to OSC for cleaning.
I was told that it took 2 days. After 2 days, I went to collect. I was shocked when I checked out the viewfinder. It was as dusty before. I was sure NO cleaning job was done at all.
I gave it back to the counter. But this was time i was told it would be ready in 30mins.
I went to funan center walk walk and come back. This time when I collected the camera, the viewfunder was SUPER clean. Spotless at all.
It was not a big issue. But I wonder why they could give me back the camera and told me the viewfinder was cleaned , where it was so obviously that no cleaning job has been done.
Read what I said carefully. I did not comment on the quality of service. Its just unrealistic to expect completely dustless lenses, before or after cleaning. Professional or not.
I almost bought a used E510 for a very good price. Am I glad I did not get into the Olympus system.
Well summed up. Its a disease that needs to be vaccinated at the earliest! There are a lot of complains about how some of the dealers treat their customers as well. Needs to be fixed..somebody needs to start a servicing center for the servicing centers!Sorry to disappoint you, but this is a story I've heard from all the major brands, including Canikon...there's no brand that's immune from bad service; it's not an Olympus only thing.
Anyway, you're the one who's missing out.

they might tot I am idiot or a fool to buy an SP350...:sticktong ... 30-50 shots per charge, that must be some 10 years back..sigh
That would make the SP350 an idiot cam.
BTW. did you manage to get them fix your cam focusing problem ?
How many times they took to get it done?
That idi... camera is right now lying in the drawer under this computer screen. I just threw away 4 of the 2700mAh rechargeable batteries because they only lasted 10 shots per charge. In the camera right now are 2 new Ni-MH 1700mAh original Oly batteries that takes about 30-50 shots per charge. As for the focusing problem, no it has not been fixed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Just wondering, would it be good to speak to the local Olyumpus product manager about it? He seems to be a good window to convey the pains the consumers are going through.
