Is the Guide Number 28m? If it is, $200 is a bit overpriced for such a low powered flash. Might as well get second hand Nikon SB24, SB25, SB26, SB28, SB80, etc which offer GN of 50m or above.

Hi mpenza,

I checked the Nikon Flash and found that besides the 4 electrical contact on the hotshoe, there is a mounting pin (I think SB25, SB26, SB28 has it) to fit into Nikon SLR hotshoe for securing the flash. Will it be anything problem if we mount the Nikon flash on Fz20?

Thinking of taking your advice to get a second hand Nikon flash for my Fz20.

Thanks

Hi all!

I'm considering a good external flash for my FZ20. Looking at the likes of Nikon & Canon Speedlites... Anyone who owns an FZ10 or FZ20 also owns one of these better flashes? How's the performance? Build quality? Which model is recommended for FZ20?

Will appreciate any comments. Thanks!

Hi,

Dunno if diz helps but it's worth trying? Follow e link below n browse thru e flashes found on e top left tabs. :)

I bought a second hand Nikon SB-25 for my FZ20 at B&S recently. It sure fits the FZ20. although there's 4 pins, the FZ20 communicates only with the centre pin to fire the flash. However the flash is rather heavy, with it on the FZ20, it becomes top heavy, leaning forward when hung with the neck strap. I will need to use a hand to hold on to the camera or flash to prevent it from leaning to the front.
About the flash performance. I haven't use any other external flash before this, but i'm very satisfied with the SB-25 performance in Auto mode. Exposure is usually spot on and the ability to tilt and swivel gives me the option to bounce the flash whether the camera is in landscape or portriat position. It also allows you to shoot in burst mode with flash.
It's one powerful, precise and well-built flashgun. I think you won't go wrong with any of the Nikon Speedlights.
