Speaking of explorers and landscapists...most of the hard-core photographers in the old days all used large formats even through jungles and when scaling deep caves etc.

SIGH. I miss using a large format camera.

Well.... you have a choice. It's whether you want to or not....and what you need to sacrifice to get it. heheh... a very nice LEAF brand medium format and Hassy comes to mind heheh

LEAF is a digitasl back lah. It's Sinar that makes dedicated medium-format digital cameras. Hassies are no longer the babies made by Viktor Hasselblad in the old days. Heck, even the lenses are made by Fujinon...not that they are bad. In fact, fujinon makes someof the best broadcast-standard lenses in the world.

It's not a matter of want or don't want. It's having to balance needs.

Sinar still makes LF film cameras, as well as dedicated medium and large format digital cameras. OOPS! Thay also make digital backs!

For large formats, there are one or two custom hand-made Japanese which are cult status among large format users. Not sure if it's the Tachihara.

The other European name that was very big in field cameras especially was Linhoff.
