Dear all....................

Regarding the "nine emperors festival" procession outing i was proposing, there is now a change of plans......

I went to the temple i suggested earlier with my parents. This year, due to the lack of big sponsors, the temple has decided to tone down their colourful fanfare! Therefore i suggest that instead of joining them for their annual processions to several temples, let's go to one of the temples' "nine emperors sending off" affair...... On 7th October (Tuesday), all temples celebrating this festival will send off the Gods all the way to a beach,river,lake with loud gongs,drums, floats etc......I suggest going to this particular temple which will have an elaborate sending off parade annually. The place they will be going should still be at the north east part of S'pore. I will check out their programme tomorrow and verify if the sending off location is still the same.


So..........STAY TUNED...................................

P.S. If some of you guys r still interested to join one of the temples for their visit cum procession to several other temples, do note that the bigger ones usually tour the island for an entire day!!! Hence u might decide to join or leave 1/2way through. The one at Eunos and Defu Lane have elaborate entourages, processions IIRC. Check the newspapers for their programmes.

Okay I am done kicking myself in the butt for last Saturday biking trip. I stumble upon the ceremony of the 9 Emperor at the seaside at I was coming back down from Changi Airport. I think it will be at the same spot that they were receiving the 9 Emperors with the 9 sedan chair-like structures. AS I said, I kicked myself for not bringing my camera on my ride again. It would have been a dream shot.... they have 3 strong spotlight to light the ceremony area, there was a lot of smoke from the offerings and the sedan chairs were decorated in LED lights too and when they rock it back and forth creating streaks of lights...and the spot-light cast shadows and smoky aura and ambient...it would have made some great shots. I miss some great shooting that night. It was about 8.30pm onwards. So the send off should be at this same spot too. There were alot of people there too (100+) and a few official photographers.

The funny thing is after the lorry left and I carried on cycling home...I found the lorrys and vehicle at my home neighborhood at Eunos Cresecent. It seem the giant white tent near the Eunos MRT station was where they settle the 9 Emperors heheh...talk about coincident.

Okay the sending off place is further up from the Bedok Jetty. About 1km upwards. Now there might be a few temples doing this but I am sure the one at my home will be doing their sending off at this same beach. I think they usually send off at the same point they are received from the sea. Hope this help. Have fun.

U won't kick yourself now cos the "sending off" is nicer than the "receiving." There will be a certain area n time allocated to each temple so that the car parks will not be jam packed with lorries,devotees etc. ECP is not the only place but the place with the most activities.

I think the one at Eunos is "Long Nan Dian." Do try to snap some photos of them cos their religious artifacts r rather nice.

Last but not least...i've mentioned this several times to the guys.. but.......Phuket is the best place to enjoy this festival! :thumbsup:
