Bro, it says Studio shot, which misleads us in the first place .. logically we will assume the subject is "taken" by force.

it does... it could also meant he probably bring the studio outdoor... then again I don't really know... but it does give that impression...taken by force...

Leg move will cause motion blur not kena chop off, I been shooting and study df for past one year plus, I dunno they love to perch on flat shinning surface. Plus how the front legs is portray.....dunno don't act know.

Btw, why I feel that there are some yawn yawn comments in our thread, maybe there are some soul hungry for attention..... Ok one more weeks 7th will be over.

how they perch.... :dunno:
this I agree.... looks like attention seeking... then again maybe....

whatever the case, even if we give benefit of doubt, i think firstly:

1) there is no pros in posting a dragonfly on bubble wrap. i think we all prefer the dragonfly in its natural environment - much more aesthetic to have greens, for example.

2) there are cons in the form of encouraging bad behaviour. even if it was done in the wild, posting it in an open, public forums might induce others to happily follow suit and carry out their own studio shot at home by trapping dragonflies and shooting them to their hearts' content.

i don't know if you find this point a bit too extremist, but when one carries out an action, there will always be unintended resonance. hope you get my point.

1) really agree.
2) it is not too extremist. His intention may not be bad but it does have the potential to plant the idea of negative behavior....

oh well moving on.... we won't want to dwell on this... again hopefully. Thank you for the efforts for putting things into perspective.

On a side note... peeps who take the effort to organise a proper macro and taking the chance to educate newbie not only the technicalities of macro shooting insects but the etiquette as well, deserve a big pat on the back.

for a moment....I was imagining it is lying on a bed of red rose petals and looking into the camera......seductively.....

 so long a subject is taken out of its natural envirnoment/habitat by someone, its branded as a no pro for me no matter hw gd he/she is..
when I am not too busy... can I tack along to see how you guys sneak up close to the insect? Insects naturally is wary and first sign of trouble will attempt to get away asap... Plus how the setup is like..... oh... first gotta get antidote jab.....

I hope nothing will crawl into your pentax...
