Hope you didn't freeze too much though. Well, at least not as bad as going waist deep into lake, right? :bsmilie:

the first time i did that was in my first year in europe on a beach on one of the offshore islands (lido) in venice.

when i went back to hostel and washed my feet the cold water felt very warm. :bsmilie:

Eh ask you arh. You dip your tripod into water until waist deep, later got problem or not arh? That time since I stuck just the tips of tripod into East Coast Park sand... now opening and closing the bottom-most leg feels like got sand stuck inside already.

Then again, I'm using cheapo Benro tripod lah.

12 degree I'm wearing a base layer + knit + jacket...

you did not clean your tripod properly then.

you can go back to the people you bought the tripod from, ask them how to dismantle it properly, wash out the sand, and then put it back together again.

i usually keep my tripod extended until i get home, and i head straight home, especially after i kena saltwater.. saltwater is bad for metal, so have to hose it down with freshwater immediately asap after contact. labrador park is the best, got a toilet near where you shoot to wash the tripod. :bsmilie:

after washing never retract, just leave it open to dry first.

even then, you will still have to open and close it a few times to make sure the water is gone.

that's how it is.. when you shoot in sand.. water is not the issue, sand is.

btw, all my tripods have small amount of sand, i think.. boh pian.. i too lazy to dismantle..

ok, other than my newest one, cos that one never put into sand that much.

Use the plastic cover for umbrellas to protect your tripod legs lah....
Pity the tripods. I'm going to form SPCT anyone joining?;p

Hmm, yeah, try to jet it out but still kena stuck dunno where. Maybe forced into gap already. Like you said, may need to go back ask them how to dismantle... or I can probably just try (can see the screws with allen key type). Then cannot put back  hahaha. Die. (new tripod.. yay!)

Never thought of using plastic covers either but that may be idea
next time maybe bring a few to try out!

Taken on my first day of my trip, over there it is famous for it even changing weather.....this is the view from the pantry beside my room.
