But I also need to figure out how to use polarisers and GND on rangefinders since the viewfinder image is not thru the lens ...

Use soft GND lor.
There was this landscape shooter that marked the edges of the GND like a ruler, and compare the markings and location from the viewfinder to lens placement .. zzz
