Experiences with the new K-3 Camera (Lots of Photos)

Actually, I think it happens to me with the BG-4 too. But I switched off the grip's shutter button most of the time because I just want to use the extra battery.

Wahhhh silver k3 in bns $1750....resist.....wait for hd da20-40......resist

Very good price with grip some more!
New set price $1970, real bargain!

And I finally can say that THIS IS IT! I'd say this would be the ultimate camera we'd ever need. Most of us won't benefit w/ full frame cameras as much as we hoped, but I'm sure everyone would benefit quite a bit when upgrading to a K3 ;p

:)

I'll definitely be getting it, question is when...

Also need to think of what to do with my K5. Maybe I'll just give it away. :bsmilie:

That''d be great! I'm sure you'd benefit a lot w/ the increased resolution and removal of AA filter for your landscape photos (which are already fantastic).

I never understood the mentality of this sort of person who can sell off a camera/lens within an instant of purchase.

But looking at the post history, probably a clone account used for BnS only (900 posts of it! wow! )

Good for the buyer though.
Too bad I don't want a battery grip

it is common, my friend bought a fuji x100 full price at 1400 sgd last year, and only used 3 times since then.

it is BuyBuyBuy virus, it is important to realize that before your purchase than after it. ;)

Thanks Paul. Wish I could shoot as often as I used to do... Anyway, w Thw new k3 I feel I'd like to shoot more. :)

An update on the battery. I've taken 690 photos since I got the camera over 10 days ago, it's still on the first battery (left over from my K5), and it still shows full. I guess the battery life is pretty good considering the bigger LCD screen and more demanding processor and sensor :)

Seldom post on the forum, but just had to chime in to say thank you for posting the impression.

You're making it tough to decide between Fuji X and Pentax. ........

I know what you mean. I sold off my XE1 plus a few lenses (all very good ones) after I got the K3. The XE1 is a very good and capable camera, small and light, takes excellent photos. But when compared with a dSLR like K3, it's just too slow in operation and focus, especially used indoor. Plus the choice of lenses from Pentax, I'd definitely go w/ K3 instead of an XE2 (which is similarly priced) .

If u do not already have another dslr, then k3 is more capable body.... just see if u want to handle the bulk.... harder decision for us already have a dslr.... wanting to get k3 but cannot find the excuse.... kekekekeke

Thank you for the kind suggestions.

My favourite camera is my old Ricoh GRD II.

Used an old Nikon D70s with just a 35mm and 90mm macro for many years and realised that a smaller camera will give me more photo moments simply because I will not think twice about taking it with me where I go. And an DSLR makes me feel like a target for thieves when I'm in a foreign country.

So I was considering the xpro-1 or the GR. Then the Pentax K3 just had to show up.

Sigh.

I can tell that you are in a dilemma, let me help, between GR and K3, each has their capabilities. GR is power in a small package but night shots and focus speed at night is borderline. K3 great in every way , day , night, I just found out at the jetty that even almost darkness still can focus fast, only it is heavier to bring and cannot slip into your pocket. XPro1- I don't own it so just leave it out of your decision, choose between K3 and GR first, then compare that choice with XPro1.

Get both GR & K3... I have K5 and just added a GR, bring them out together, lovely pair... tempted to get K3 but K5 still good plus $$ in short supply... ;)
