Hook, line and sinker.

Before long things started to happen, i must have found a wonderful spot or maybe my big smile baited them? Everyone passing by, who for some reason needed to stop for something seem to stop right in front of me!

They stopped in front of me to check for things.

Checking.

Kids stood in front of me to have their photos "taken".

Parents sat their kids next to me to take photographs.

Say cheese.

Photographers stood around me to take photographs.

3 photographers.

Finally, a good example for all of us, a considerate photographer.

Searching...

Not bad a start for the new year given that it was a dull day.

So one more tip for street shooters, go fishing instead. One problem though, you only catch one type of fish.

Occupy Orchard.

Last night the call went out to all pedestrians to occupy a stretch of Orchard Road between Scotts Rd and Bideford Rd.

psst psst psst.

Pass it on.

People from all over the world responded and supported the call.

Hands up!

Armed with cameras and shopping bags, they came to fill the streets.

Sit in.

Security and safety are paramount nevertheless but cheerfully so. I was ushered along when i stood at passageway surveying the scene.
In return i flashed her.

High 5!

The crowd.

I like getting lost in a crowd, a crowd is always in a state of flux. The only time people notice you is when you stand still.

Standing still.

Standing watch.

Standing in the middle of traffic.

This toddler tried gate crashing but was caught in the act and thrown out. Youth is no excuse!

Standing still is not an option.

A crowd needed to be pleased.

The stage is set for performances to placate the now restless crowd.

The crowd's attention was drawn to the rousing sound of percussion reverberating through the air.

It energised us,

charmed us,

wowed us

I was walking back to my car when i looked up and realised that many eyes were upon me, in fact it felt like the city was looking down on me.

I reacted the way i know, i shot back.

From all walks of life we came.

To pay our last respects to our founding father , Mr.Lee Kuan Yew.

To express our heartfelt gratitude.

Come rain or shine, there was no stopping us.

The harsh afternoon sun made us all the more determined.

Sanctuary.

Hong Lim park provided some respite from the heat. There was an elderly gentleman who insisted on queuing with us (all complete strangers) even though there was a separate queue for the elderly. He relented at Hong Lim park when a policeman cajoled him to join another group.
As he waved to us, he seemed reluctant to leave.

All of us may have found a short respite but not these students. They continued with their homework on the move.

Announcements were made.

There's water,

there were toilets

and chairs for tired feet.

There was even a mobile garbage collector.

In no time the queue was moving again.

The snaking queue.

Before you know it, night came.

Looking around, many must have felt the most important legacy that Mr Lee has left us, a home of our own.
