Europe Trip - Italy, Switzerland & France

was our honeymoon and considering the expensive air ticket so want to spend more days to take advantage. if you want i can send you my itinerary.

I missed this. Yes please if you don't mind. My wife and I certainly hope to visit some of these places again, when our girl is much older.

Lovely shots... Thanks for sharing.

Thanks redantckc !

your research is so much more detailed than mine. I didn't know one could do hiking trail from Top of EUrope. Wengen is a great choice. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't pass it by on my way to Jungfrau.

I had close to 8 months of planning for my honeymoon...besides wengen, there is grindelwald and murren....PM you on my itinerary...

WOW..

beautiful shots
best of the best shots...

thanks for sharing.
Billy

some very good shots here

Its not easy to get such good shots during traveling / tour.
because you are only there for 10mins during that time of the day... nothing you can control ... these shots are amazing.

well done.

thanks billy for your advise !

love the colours of No. 33!

thanks b-setting

As mentioned, there are lots of hiking trails around the Bernese Oberland region. The most famous hike trail in the First-Faulhorn-Schynige Platte hike - I had checked with some locals and they said it takes around 7-8 hours. You can travel to First from Grindelwald (by cable car) or Schynige Platte from Wilderswil (by cog train).
I will recommend to start the hike from Schynige Platte. This is so that you can reach Lake Bachalpsee at around 4. Then you can capture the peaks of Jungfrau as a reflection on the lake. Also, this will also give you sufficient time to hike down to First in order to catch the cable car ride down (last timing is 530pm for autumn) to Grindelwald. If you miss the cable car ride, you will have to hike another 3 hours down.
Those who are interested in planning a trip in Bernese Oberland can PM me for more info.
As we were quite tired from all the walking and climbing since Italy, we decide to do the hike from First to Lake Bachalpsee to Bolt (one of the station for the cable car) instead. These are some of the pictures I took along the hike.

#46 This was taken at Mannlichen instead. As we stayed in Wengen, we had to cross Mannlichen to get to Grindelwald.

#47 A pano view from First.

very envious of the weather you got. Just few weeks earlier made such a difference. we were met with a cold front North of the alps.

These are the Countries that i would like to visit one day. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice shots. I like the colors.

Lovely series. Luv your sunrise & sunset shots(#33 & 35).

Nice photos, nice colors and wow, a very long honeymoon :)

#47 A pano view from First.

Wide angle or panoramic view is dramatic. However, too wide a view, becomes a lack of focus of key point of interest.

I feel this shot a little too wide liao. crop away 40% from the LEFT should be

cheers,
Billy

Yeah...the weather was very nice but only at altitudes above 1200+m. Any lower the whole area is covered under a thick layer of clouds. Interested to see how a cold front weather looks like.

Lovely series. Luv your sunrise & sunset shots(#33 & 35).

Thanks treetrunk !

Point noted. Will watch out in future when taking wide angle or pano. No wonder when I see all the panos i took seems to lack something. Time to revisit and redo all of them.

#48 The one and only one tree at First. Try to position it so that the clouds seem to be coming out from it.

#49 Lake Bachalpsee - not well taken. Tried to capture Jungfrau as the reflection, but the sun was in front thus the lake appeared totally white. So i shifted to the right to capture this view instead.

33 days is a great luxury! I am looking to visiting the same countries somewhere end nxt yr but i am afraid i might not have the luxury of anywhere near a month.

# 11 is a pleasant take, i thought even with people can present with a great opportunity to do semi long exposures to inject motion blur within the spiral. I kinda love # 24.

May i ask if your arrival / departure is at different countries / cities ? else i would think you need to make a loop back to the original arrival city. I am kinda planning for an arrival at Paris , and fly from Rome back. Did you visit Tuscany ?

Ryan

Hi Ryan, I fly into Rome and depart from Paris. It will be much easier than to make a loop back although the open jaw might be slightly more expensive.
I visited Florence, Siena and Pisa in Tuscany. Emlee went to San Gimignano so you can check with him if you are interested. I believe it will be wonderful to rent a car and drive round Tuscany region.

#42 If you are adventurous enough and doing F&E, you can take the Mönchsjoch Hut trail. It is a 3 hours hike to the Mönchsjoch Hut (base for mountaineers to do their climbs). I tried to do a 360 degree pano of the initial trail.

This shot is amazing! did you actually lug a tripod here to take this shot?

Nice series! Post more! ;)

Hi thirtyone, thanks for viewing. i did not bring tripod. handheld and turn one round to make this pano.

#50 Hike down from Lake Bachalpsee to Waldspitz where we stop for lunch.

#51 There is a resting place along the trail for people to take a break and look at the beautiful surrounding. The mountain top is where we started the hike.

#52 When we reached Bolt, we took the cable car up to First again (make full use of the Jungfrau 6 days pass). Grindelwald First - a must visit.

The next day, we took a cog train ride up from Wilderswil to Schynige Platte.

#53 The ride up. Go early and try to get a window seat so that you can open it and look outside.

#54 At the top there is a slide for the kids to play.

#55 Saw a rainbow on the sea of clouds. However it is quite fade.

dude. very nice photo taken.! awesome

#48 looks really good. I wonder if convert to BW and slightly dodge back the top right hand corner would it be better. Love the way the botak tree stands out.

#51 sort of reminds me of those scenes from fairy tale storybooks. Like "u r at this cottage in the hills etc etc"... lovely.

Looking at your series certainly brought back memories when me and my wife were covering Italy, Switzerland and France back in May this year.

You've got a few quite breathtaking panoramic shots

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more from you :)
