Epson RD-1 still worth it?

You mean "keep" as in keep steady of keep falling? (no sarcasm here, genuine question)
I mean keep at the current rate/value at least until M9.2 / 10. Fact is Leica rangefinders are expensive. most will choose a RD1/ M8 over film. I like my M7 =) but i think I spent quite a bit on film. sorry for stating it so ambiguously. Personally I wont go for it cos I don't do well with compromises so the only one for me is the M9 =)
To me full frame makes a difference. Thats one reason why the M9 is so hot.
If you are like me just save up for the M9. Keep the M legacy alive =)

dug up this old old thread cos i'm also thinking of finding a RD-1. after so long, izit still worth it? i was interested in this cos of its digital function. as much as i like film, its getting harder to find good film nowadays... :cry:

Am thinking of getting one as well just for convenience sake.
I think its a pretty good time to get one now considering the prices to be under 2k for a RD1S
With current price of a used RD-1 around SGD1600-1800 while M8 hovering around SGD3800-4000, it is a tough choice to make. However, if you based on support, i.e. Epson got almost no support in Singapore as most of the RD-1 are parallel imported from Japan but Leica will always be supported, I would rather go for the M8! I have non of these cameras and it is just my 2 cents worth of opinion. I am hopping to get the M8 below 3K but the price seems to be up there even after all these months.

yep I guess that is the down side but for the budget conscious like myself, the filters & accessories on the M8 really will bring the price more than 3k really :cry:
all things being equaled, of course i would go for a leica. ;p
but for the wallet's sake, i'm angling for the epson. :sweatsm:
time to monitor buy/sell...
Guys I have one RD1s at Mr. Tays, aligning VF patch, once back, if anyone is interested.....

Relevance to the thread aside, the M8 had a number of known flaws, which Leica tried to correct in the M8.2.
Got mine, no regrets. If there are any left, faster grab. My DSLR friends think i must be nuts spending that kind of money on old sensor technology, but i let the pics do the talking. The high iso setting is indeed good for indoor or low light. Power output from B & W.

too few choices in fact... that's the problem when the RF community is small, unlike big players like Canon, there's no EOS (Economies Of Scale, no pun intended!) investing in R&D & yet produce small quantity!

I like the RD1s for their design, the analogue dial is SEXY but I cant use the camera.
I didnt buy it because of the VF mag is x1, I cant see a damn thing with my specs on :cry:
Might go for the M8 year end, bonus dependant. But this wongsan & tan131 has been feeding me Hassy poison, like big time :cry: The Hassy focusing screen is just orgasmic
