Epson RD-1 / RD-1s / RD-1x / RD-1gx

I love the skin tones you get out of this camera! Is this out of camera jpeg? how do you manage the white balance -- auto or manually set?

btw, I finally got mine yesterday.

Seems like you are really loving the camera.

Bro, I can use it all the way to iso1600 and it will still be fine.

But this one I think I am on ISO 200, AE, f8, RD1s on half case with a 12mm, placed the camera on the parapet, and press on the shutter till it ends.

Thks Bernard .... Do u guys leave noise reduction on film settings high or low?

I think I left noise reduction on ...

Another one ... RD1s + VC12 LTM (ISO 400, 0.5s exposure)

Nice. Gonna try it. Tks.

Hi all,

I am new to rangefinder and quite interested in the RD1s. I have CV 21mm F4 so just wondering if I use this 21mm with RD1s, which frameline should I use, the 28mm or 35mm due to its 1.5x crop factor? Or I still have to use the external VF which will reflect the true 21mm field of view on FF?

And where can I buy a RD1s or RD1x in Singapore? Thank you very much.

You got to use an external viewfinder. See link below, these VFs are made by Voigtlander and they're 1.5x crop too like the Epson R-D1! Not easy to find though...

the frameline in the camera viewfinder is already "adjusted" for the 1.5x crop, but external viewfinders are not (except the special edition voigtlander and zoom finders).

RD1 viewfinder only has 28, 35, and 50 framelines, and if i recall correctly, the 21mm field of view (FOV) extends beyound the edge of the viewfinder.

using external viewfinders, you would have to consider the crop fractor, 21mm (x1.5) -> 31.5mm FOV on the RD1... and this aren't the typical framelines for an external vewfinder, sitting awkwardly between the 28 and the 35... unless you manage to get one of the special edition voigtlander and zoom finders.

I use my 21 without external finder, just less precise, but usable.
you can use an external 35mm, usually they are 90% field of view, so it's 31.5mm in the bright line, but paralax.

Happy new year with R-D1 :)
and 1938 Elmar 90mm f4 not coated and with some fungus :)
