EOS - M3

Waiting to try M3 with EVF and the AF speed....hopefully can replace my OMD :)

What is the likely retail price of body only?

Think Canon will only release pricing by June (Japan release End March) as what their standard reply on facebook.

With Japan priced around 55k yen (ard $660), it would est. $699?

For me, the M3 have advantage over 100D like swivel screen, less "pro" look makes some shoots more easily.

By the way, did any one happen to read the review of the EVF? I know is the same type for G1X M2, but interested to know its function (since EOS-M is very dependent on touch screen.

Most likely I should be getting a M3 body only with adapter when I visit JP in end March. The body itself is far cheaper than the Lumix LX100 ;p which makes it more worthwhile as a backup camera.

Btw, if I buy an EOS-M body only, does it comes with the adaptor for EF lenses? Or do we have to make a separate purchase (and if so how much will it cost)?

From jp bic camera online website the adapter is sold as an option, but they do sell M3 as a body-only package.

If the adapter is the same as for the first EOS M then you can get them easily via eBay. Got mine there as well, including shipping still 25% less than what they cost here in local shops.

Which means based on previous M series, the adaptor is not included in the box for body only kit?

Another question, with the adaptor, does it affect the AF speed etc and performance?... understand that previous M AF is terrible but adapting EF lenses to M series does it degrade any performance significantly?

It was included for the EOS-M body + 22 f/2 kit.

Optical performance suffers no degradation. As for AF speed, it was slow with EOS-M. We'll know how it goes for EOS-M3. Supposedly very good... but we'll see. I intend to use EOS-M3 with EF-M 18-55 STM + EF-M 22 f/2 STM + EF 35 f/2 IS USM + EF-S 10-18 STM

It was included, based on the list printed on the box. My 2nd hand unit came without the adapter, so I got it from eBay.

The adapter is a mechanical adapter required for EF/EF-S lesnes to achieve the required flange distance. Electrical contacts are just passed through without interception. There is nothing that the adapter adds or reduces. Since the adapter does not have any optical elements there is no impact to the optical performance of any lens used.
The described AF performance simply results from the contrast AF system used in the M camera. It is slower than the phase detection used in DSLR bodies. Whether this is 'terrible' depends on your expectation and intended usage. For stationary objects I don't see any reason to complain.

Thanks for the information. Another question is regarding the viewfinder, I suppose the proposed VF to be used is Canon EVF-DC1? ... how much is this retail locally?
Also when will the EOS M3 be available in Singapore based on your experiences with current M series?

*The Adaptor is included in the Body only kit right?

One question, will the M3 have English menu if bought from Japan?

Cameras usually come with several languages built in to the software. If the camera is set to the Japanese language, the people who work at the shop will be able to change it for you.

Well, there was a bad experience with NEX-5 bought from Amazon.jp that only have Japanese language built in..

I think only Sony and Panasonic have such restrictions.

Really, wow! Although I've never owned a Canon M series camera, I've owned several other models. All of them had multi-language support.
